Don’t Just Sit There, Listen to Lucius!

As much as we love a good holiday break, the workdays prior are always little frantic, as we frantically try to wrap everything up before Fourth of July festivities. Luckily, we’ve already conquered the bulk of our to-do list — we’ve launched our first-ever vintage collection contest, started planning our pop-up at Timber Music Fest (see you there!), and kicked off our Summer Sale-ebration. All that’s left now is to kick up our feet and relax. The soundtrack to our newfound zen? Up-and-coming Brooklyn band Lucius.

Fans of St. Vincent, Tegan and Sara, and First Aid Kit will easily fall for this talented six-piece band, which is fronted by the lovely, lilting vocals of Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe. Trust us when you say you’ll want to take their self-titled EP for a spin (or twenty). From the catchy pop stylings of “Don’t Just Sit There” to the sassy, thumping “Turn It Around” and Emmylou Harris-type croons of “Go Home,” Lucius knows how to bring it.

Check out their self-titled EP, below, and be on the lookout for their full-length album this fall. In the meantime, though, here’s to chilling and the holiday weekend!

About Jenn

Jenn's first career aspiration was to be a dinosaur. After her kindergarten teacher informed her that couldn't happen, she decided she would be the next best thing: a writer. Aside from writing, Jenn loves chambray shirts, all cacti, and good typography.

So, I LOVE these guys and I first saw them last fall opening for another amazing band that I LOVE, Pearl and the Beard, who you should definitely think about featuring, because they are devastatingly stylish and wonderful (http://pearlandthebeard.com/). Just thought I’d pass that along!

Oh man, thanks for the rec, Rachel Rose! I just started spinning Pearl and the Beard’s “Sweetness” and am loving it!
