Clue1

Was it Miss Scarlet with the wrench in the drawing room? Or, Colonel Mustard in the billiards room with the rope? The plot is a thick web of mystery and lies in Clue, the 1985 film adaptation of the board game. Boasting an all-star cast — Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, and more — family game night never looked so good. With its dark and stormy undertones and mid-century setting, Clue offers a fashionable feast for the eyes. Between Miss Scarlett’s red lips, Mrs. Peacock’s gilded gold dress, and the maid’s ubiquitous uniform, there’s plenty to appreciate while you collect the facts to solve the crime.

Set in New England in 1954, the film follows the six classic Clue players — Professor Plum, Miss Scarlet, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, and Mrs. Peacock — along with a butler and a maid, as they convene at the foreboding Hill House for a mysterious dinner party held by an even more mysterious Mr. Boddy (can you tell where this is going?). The night takes a turn for the worse when Mr. Boddy is murdered and everyone’s a suspect. The guests set off to solve the mystery, and as the bodies pile up, so do the zippy one liners and quotable quips.

About Julie O.

A lover of all things vintage and vintage-inspired, Julie bought her first 1950s frock in the fifth grade. Since then, Julie has become a self-described connoisseur of vintage and thrift shopping, which she shares on her blog, Orchid Grey. My two favorite murder mysteries are both Hercules Poirot films “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile” set in the 1920’s the costumes are STUNNING, the plot nail biting and the atmosphere spine-tingling. Absolutely brilliant!! More people should definitely see these movies! If you were inspired by The Great Gatsby fashions, you just wait till you see these!!

I definitely agree with you! I bought an Agatha Christie movie box set from Amazon, and love all of the films. There is something about watching these films on a cosy evening. You should check out Murder by Death.
