If the Story by ModCloth team has learned anything over the years, it’s that we never know where we’ll end up next. Last week, our jobs took us all the way backstage at The Lumineers‘ concert at the America’s Cup Pavilion in San Francisco, where we styled cellist and all-around-awesome lady Neyla Pekarek, and hung out with her in the hours before the show. We couldn’t leave you behind, though, which is why we had our phones at the ready so we could share our behind-the-scenes snaps with all y’all.
So slap on your virtual all-access pass, and check out what it’s like for a Lumineer in the moments before a show.
String lights, cushy couches, and an awesomely decorated cornhole set made The Lumineers’ backstage area between Piers 27-29 was a cozy and low-key (albeit chilly) hangout spot.
As far as pre-show rituals go, Neyla’s is pretty simple: relax, hang out, and spend the time crafting or handwriting letters to loved ones. Small but significant decorative details such as colorful couch covers, whimsical decor, and familiar personal items help create a relaxing space when the band’s constantly on the move during tours, says Neyla.
In the moments before the show, Neyla gets goofy with costumes from her personal collection — toy snakes and mountain troll-esque beards, anyone?
While Neyla left the wigs and beards behind in her dressing room, she did go out with a new ModCloth outfit! Here we’ve got our girl — and her handcrafted hedgehog — wearing our Vanilla Latte Cardigan, Country Cooking Top, Back to Scholastic Skirt in Pencil Yellow, Go Fig-ure Tights, and Trail of Your Own Bootie in Brown.
And the show begins…!
