To paint a quick picture of my father for you — he works as a maintenance mechanic. He takes his vacation in November every year so he can go deer hunting, and he’s had the same haircut my entire life. My dad is also the one responsible for introducing me to Cher, and I’ve loved her ever since. Growing up, my dad had Heart of Stone on cassette, and anytime we’d go for a long drive, he’d pop it into the tape deck in our big gray Oldsmobile. If I tried, I could probably still sing along with the whole album.

A style icon since the 1960s, Cher has excelled at everything she’s turned her hand to, from recording hit songs — “I Got You Babe” and “If I Could Turn Back Time” are two hits that top my list — to winning an Oscar for her performance in “Moonstruck” — another all-time favorite. She even hosted her own variety show! Whether her hair is worn long and straight, or teased bigger and wilder than should be possible, whether she’s hitting the stage clad in a jumpsuit, or merely a handful of sequins, she always manages to take a look and make it uniquely Cher. As a bit of a wallflower myself, I’ve always admired her ability to stand out while being true to herself at the same time.

And her Dressed to Kill Tour is coming to Pittsburgh in April! When I missed her last concert, I was sure I’d never get a chance to see her perform live — especially since her last tour was titled The Farewell Tour. But, it looks like I’m going to get my chance after all, and I’m so excited, I just might ask my Dad if he wants to come along! — By Jamie, Customer Care Advocate

What a great post! She surely had her own style – something I have wished for. Maybe ModCloth should re-create that white and black polkadot dress :-)
