Give A Little Gratitude Everyday

Today, all across the US, we gather together with our friends and loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving. While I love the tradition of setting aside a full day each year to reflect on our blessings and, let’s face it, usually stuff ourselves with an overabundance of food, I don’t think one day-of-thanks a year is really enough. Recently, I’ve been making an effort to consciously make gratitude a habit in my life every single day, studies have shown that simple acts of gratitude, like keeping a gratitude journal as I do, can lead not only to increased happiness, but also boost our immune systems, reduce symptoms of illness, and even help us sleep better!

For all of us, no matter what we’re doing, life is busy. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the everyday and start wishing for more hours in the day and more days in the week. But this practice of taking a few minutes to reflect and be grateful has been, for me, totally worth it.

As I look back at my gratitude journal, a few themes emerge: I am forever grateful for my friends and family – those people in my life who inspire me and challenge me to be a better person, but who will always be there for me no matter what. I’m grateful for my adorable pups, who always put a smile on my face. And I am so grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion with ModCloth. And for that, I have YOU to thank. Thank you for your support. Thank you for inspiring us with your personal style, sharing your fashion smarts, and being part of the conversation right here on the blog. Today marks the “official” beginning of what will be our biggest holiday season ever, and we couldn’t have done it without you.  So sincerely, humbly, from my heart to yours: thank you.

Let’s keep the gratitude fest going. What are you grateful for right now?
