Name It & Win It: Poetry Month Edition Has Begun

blog-lead-01

If you’re a poet and you know it (that never gets old), it’s time to show it. Celebrate Poetry Month with the newest edition of our beloved Name It & Win It contest, and exercise your eloquence in a telling ‘Twaiku!’

What’s a Twaiku, you ask? Think of a haiku — a three-line poem where the first line has five syllables, the second has seven, and the third has five — that lives on Twitter. For example:

“This contest right here/It’s time to let my voice shine/Then get some pizza.”

Each Monday in April, we’ll tweet a photo of an inspiring garment. Your task is to give the item a name and write an original Twaiku that elaborates on your idea. The winning submission will become the name and description used for the piece on the site, and the brilliant bard behind the work will win a ModCloth gift certificate.

Aspiring poets can find all the contest details below:

  • Entries don’t have to follow any theme.
  • Please suggest one name per item, as well as one Twaiku. Your name and poem should relate, but you can submit them in separate tweets. Just be sure to tag both with #ModCloth and #NIAWI.
  • We’ll accept each day’s entries from 9 a.m. PT on that day until 9 a.m. PT the following day.
  • If you’re getting error messages or having trouble posting your tweets, send your submissions to NIAWI@modcloth.com instead. You can also send us any contest questions you have.
  • If multiple people submit the same name, only the first tweet with that name will be considered.
  • This contest is open to all legal US residents, and internationally where permitted by local laws.
  • Under 18? Check out our Official Contest Rules for some important deets!
  • A panel of ModCloth employees will pick each day’s winner. We’ll be looking for the submission that best fits the item at hand and reflects the spirit of ModCloth.
  • Winners will be announced on our blog about a week after the last day of the contest. We’ll contact our winners via Twitter, and each will receive a gift certificate for the cost of the item they named. Woohoo!
  • If you have questions, please see our legal info and Official Contest Rules.

The stylish poetry slam starts now on Twitter – good luck!
