If you haven’t already gathered by reading our blog, we’re pretty big fans of 100 Layer Cake. Earlier in the year we caught up with the site’s leading lady Jillian Clark at a Wedding Paper Divas-hosted luncheon to chat wedding trends — she gave us the scoop on mismatching bridesmaid dresses — and we’re beyond pumped to announce that we’ve partnered with her to roll out three namesake dresses that drop on ModCloth TODAY. The 100 Layer Cake Dress, Layered Cupcakes Dress, and Layered Petit Fours Dress are all currently available to shop now. (Race you there?)
Before you go sprinting over to ModCloth.com, though, check out our interview with her below.
ModCloth: Can you talk about some of the big dress themes for Spring/Summer 2014?
Jillian Clark: We love all the bold florals and bright colors we’re seeing right now. So much inspiration seems to be coming from the lush bounty of spring and summer. We’re totally sold.
Are these print and texture trends limited to bridesmaids, or are you seeing brides wearing these styles too?
We’re definitely seeing brides making unexpected fashion statements in their wedding day attire. Blush on a bride is always awesome.
We are so excited to carry three 100 Layer Cake namesake dresses on ModCloth, how did you pick these pieces?
We chose three dresses that we felt spoke to our brides and our brand. Blush and bright florals will always be a favorite at 100 Layer Cake.
Tell us how you styled the 100 Layer Cake, Layered Cupcakes, and Layered Petit Fours dresses?
We loved the vintage style of the bright floral dress, especially paired with a big statement necklace. You couldn’t walk into a room wearing that dress and not turn heads! We love the idea of asking your MOH to wear this as a complement to solid looks for your bridesmaids. It would be adorable for a spring garden wedding or even a vintage Palm Springs affair.
The short pink dress is just so perfectly sweet and romantic, but also a little flirtatious. Perfect for an evening wedding with a younger crowd — like a city wedding on a Saturday night.
The long blush maxi was a must. We love seeing bridesmaids lined up in long skirts and we see this working at a rustic but fancy wine country wedding. Hopefully the maxi trend is here to stay!
