Here at Story by ModCloth, it’s no secret that we love bloggers, we ARE a blog, after all. Today, we’re chatting with Katie of Martinis and Mascara. Check her out below, and be sure to share your favorite blogs with us in the comments.
Blog name & location: Martinis and Mascara based in Lake Worth, FL
ModCloth: We’re huge fans of your blog, can you tell us about it?
Katie: Martinis and Mascara is a blog devoted to all things beauty (and occasionally, cocktails) featuring beauty news, reviews, and advice – all served to you straight up!
Are you a full time blogger? If not, can you tell us about your day job?
In addition to running Martinis and Mascara, I also work for a newspaper, The Palm Beach Post, where I write my own weekly column. I like to pretend I’m Carrie Bradshaw.
What are you up to when you’re not blogging or working at the newspaper?
Probably at Disney World! I used to work there as a performer and I still mentally live in the Magic Kingdom. I go back every chance I get.
Who inspires your sense of style?
I am a big fan of old Hollywood glamour. A lot of my style inspiration comes from the classic beauties of yesteryear.
We’re always on the hunt for new blogs to follow, any faves?
I love love love Maskcara. I got to know Cara when we were in the Allure Beauty Blogger Awards together last year. She is such a nice person, in addition to being an awesome blogger! I’m also a big fan of The Fashion Poet. I love Annie herself, too — she is a class act and does so much for the South Florida blogging community. Basically, I love nice people with amazing blogs.
Any new trends you’re dying to try?
I love that gingham is in right now because I adore the whole “Dorothy” look. Planning to tackle that trend soon!
Can you share us on a few of your fave ModCloth items?
What’s on your playlist right now?
I’m currently obsessing over the new Justin Timberlake / Michael Jackson song, “Love Never Felt So Good”. I like all genres of music, but I’m a pop girl at heart.
Any fun plans for the weekend?
I’m actually preparing to teach a makeup workshop at a Pin-Up festival!
Thanks for sharing your blog with us, Katie!
