This adorable gal was spotted at a pizza shop one evening in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, proving that fabulous fashion is not just for exceptional events!
Sofia Schink is an avid thrifter, and found her charming retro dress at local shop that features a mix of vintage and new items. I spotted her fun frock and couldn’t help but notice how she smartly styled it with a waist-cinching wide belt, classically cute flats, chic circle earrings, and a stunning scarlet pucker! This gorgeous girl clearly has her own brand of stand-out style down pat.
Are you pining for this perfectly put-together look? Well, you’re in luck because ModCloth has a slew of sensational, similar styles. If a fabulously full-skirted frock is what you seek, the Soda Fountain Dress in Ginger, Cola, or Grape should quench your thirst! However, if the pretty plaid is what really tickles your fancy, try on the Weekend in the City Dress, or take a twirl in the Do-Si-Do Dress. Accent your vintage-inspired look with the Buffalo Jill Belt or the Birth of Venus Belt. For a sweet treat, add the Chocolate Ganache Flats, or put some twinkle on your toes with the Snake Charming Flats. The Tran-quil-ity Hoops or– my personal favorites– the Braid Brigade Earrings will be the cherry on top of your easy and elegant ensemble.
So, let’s all take a cue from this cutie and not just save our dazzling dresses for those big nights out. Pull together your own perfectly polished ensemble and go anyplace from the pizza parlor to the public library and beyond!

This lovely lady in an adorable creme colored maxi with matching accessories was recently seen on August 29th, at Pittsburgh’s annual Hothouse party to benefit the Sprout Fund. The Sprout Fund is a local nonprofit organization “supporting innovative ideas and grassroots community projects that are catalyzing change in Pittsburgh.” And the Hothouse event, “serves as a stage to present a sampling of some of the innovative projects and emerging leaders of successful community initiatives supported by Sprout over the past year.” (sproutfund.org)
Are you going to a benefit gala and want to achieve a similar simple, yet stylish look? Pair together our Lady Grey Maxi Dress, Hollywood Haberdashery Necklace, Punk Picket Fence Sandals, and Frosted Rosette Ring and you just might end up in the style section of your local news!

[Image Above: Some girls rocking vintage style at The Cloisters in NYC. From left: Sophie, Lauren, Jessica)
We recently asked our fabulous and fashionable Street Team to become style scouts and be on the lookout for great fashion in their hometowns to submit to our Seen Style post. Our first submission was by Street Team Member Alisha; She spotted these three stylish girls at the Cloisters in NYC. Alisha says that the girls “are all avid thrift store shoppers and all three had fabulous looks styled completely out of items handed down from family members or thrift store finds. Sophie and Jessica are roommates in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Lauren is a mutual friend and former New Yorker who now lives in Baltimore.”
I wish someone in my family had a plaid romper to pass down to me! Great style scouting, Alisha!

From ModCloth Writing Team Intern, Amy Cockcroft:

Picture this: a boiling hot day in August wandering around Washington Square Park, enjoying the beauty of the city of New York and feeling overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle that is like no other. A weekend trip to the Big Apple was just what I needed to inspire me- the sights, the diversity and of course, the style. I’d only been in the city for an hour when I spotted this girl across a fountain and was immediately drawn to her look, one that screamed chic and stylish. She was seemingly unfazed by the heat of the sun that was making everyone else look pretty uncomfortable. Instead, Emma Vintäng combined a black tank under a gorgeous white summer dress, super sharp sunglasses, a quirky key on a long chain and black booties that many wouldn’t dare to don until the colder months. She, however, pulled the look off perfectly. I was green-eyed and jealous as I made my way over to talk to her, only to discover that she herself was a fashion buyer for www.grandpa.se in Stockholm, Sweden! This is a really cool site to check out, and I’d say that they definitely have the right people on the job for supplying gorgeous and modern clothing. Isn’t her ensemble just sublime?!

A few of us were lucky enough to attend the BlogHer Conference this July 23-25 in beautiful Chicago! We met a lot of inspiring and passionate women; one of them was Sabrina, an employee at Sugar Inc! Out of a crowd of thousands, Sabrina stood out in this vintage bright orange dress. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but her golden hoop earrings with orange feather accents were just as attention-grabbing. Kudos, Sabrina; it’s not an easy feat, but somehow you managed to outsparkle the Chicago River!

The other weekend, Pittsburgh’s annual Vintage Grand Prix roared on through Schenley Park. The sun was shining, the svelte old cars were gleaming, and the town’s fashionable plenty were out and about! With ModCloth’s Seen Style in mind, I set out to spot the best looks lounging among the automobiles.

This Seen Style comes direct from the Chicago AWP Writer’s Conference Bookfair! Among the hundreds of book vendors and publishing stalls in gritty parking garages and exhibit halls, I spotted some serious fashion. These ladies are as dedicated to their writing as they are to their style! Sara, Poetry Editor for the Bat City Review out of Austin, TX decided she needed a splash of color to set her apart from the other journal editors. Don’t you love the citrus-y lime and orange?
And check out this writing student from the University of Iowa! She caught my eye with that gorgeous tapestry coat, and she informed me that the entire ensemble was vintage. You might not be able to tell from the photo, but the dress was velvet. Wow.

This week, I bring you more local fashion from ModCloth’s favorite bar – Brillobox. The vintage feel of her blouse is amazing, and the neutral skirt and simple tote compliment it perfectly for a look that lit up the dance floor.
Keep reading to see the shirt you’ll wish was your own.

This edition of Seen Style comes from the Pool Trade show in lovely Las Vegas! Hip indie lines abound, and we’ve found that it’s the perfect place to shoot for Seen Style. Bianca Benitez, designer of one our favorite lines, Dear Creatures, always catches our eye with her adorable style. Look at those boots! Be still my heart. And those bangs!

I followed this girl around Pool and Project, waiting for the perfect time to approach her. She was sifting through the pile of jewelry to her right when I finally made my move. The slouchy boots add an effortless touch to her ultra-feminine dress.
ModLife readers have spoken, and they want more Seen Style! Stay tuned for our favorite looks from around Pittsburgh.
