It was a low-key evening, and I was hitting up a local bar, The Loft, in the Regent Square neighborhood of Pittsburgh with fellow ModWriter, Jen Luebbers. It’s a fairly small place (as demonstrated by the very random, very slim pickins on the jukebox – we wound up playing “Rich Girl,” by Hall & Oates, and “Electric Feel,” by MGMT twice in a row, certain they’d turn our selections off), and seemed to be populated by many “regulars,” belting out slightly off-key renditions of Elton John tunes. In light of all this, we weren’t particularly on the look-out for spectacular style. However, when Briane Adams entered the room, our eyes were magnetically drawn to her marvelous ensemble!
This fabulous fashionista struck just the right balance of fierce femininity and tomboyish toughness, masterfully mixing slouchy, distressed boyfriend jeans, a simple grey V-neck sweater, elegantly embellished, terrifically tailored black blazer, bright white floral statement necklace, super cute cobalt blue bag, and do you see those stunning shoes?! They are downright to-die-for, with layers of black, satiny ruffles from ankle to toe. Brie clearly has fantastic taste in footwear, which was further evidenced by the fact that she professed her love for Jeffrey Campbell during our clothing-centered conversation.
If you’re vying for a playful, vixenish vibe like Brie’s, pull on your favorite worn-in jeans, add a V-neck top, then slip into the Study in Chic Blazer or the chicly cropped Take the Reigns Jacket, slide a sylvan-styled accessory, like the Golden Laurels Necklace or the Puttin’ on the Ritz Necklace, around your neck, pick up a bright bag, such as the Classic Make and Model Bag or the Raspberry Rocker Bag, and tuck your tootsies into statement-making shoes, like the Cindy Booties or the ravishingly ruffled (and ModCloth perennial favorites) Unicorn Princess Heels.
What do you like about Briane’s outstanding outfit? Are you a fashionable fan of juxtaposing the boldly beautiful with a bit of boyish style? Tell us about it!

This lovely lady in an adorable creme colored maxi with matching accessories was recently seen on August 29th, at Pittsburgh’s annual Hothouse party to benefit the Sprout Fund. The Sprout Fund is a local nonprofit organization “supporting innovative ideas and grassroots community projects that are catalyzing change in Pittsburgh.” And the Hothouse event, “serves as a stage to present a sampling of some of the innovative projects and emerging leaders of successful community initiatives supported by Sprout over the past year.” (
