I love how understated this outfit is. Nothing about it is flashy and yet this girl still stands out. Everything in her outfit looks like pieces I could pull out of my mom’s closet (she never gets rid of anything), and that’s a compliment. I love the brown quilted leather purse and classic oxfords. Plus, lately I’ve been getting really excited about contrasting prints. I think the plaid trousers and paisley scarf work amazingly together. This photo also revives my desire to have worse vision. I might have to bite the bullet and wear non-prescription glasses. No one will know – except all of you…

Here are a couple pieces that will jump start your copycat look: the Cynical Teen Glasses and the Minsk Scarf.

I LOVE this edgy schoolgirl look! The contrast between the thigh-high socks and the leather jacket is just perfect and the pop of pink skirt is brilliant. Plus, if you look really closely, you’ll see that the blouse and belt are contrasting animal prints that work perfectly together. You can check out a closeup on her blog!

If you’re as inspired as I am by this outfit, you might like the Frill of a Lifetime Jacket and the Brow-knee Socks.

(Image Above: Delightfully Tacky)

I’ve been coveting blogger Delightfully Tacky’s style for months so when I got the opportunity to do Style Inspirations this week, I knew I wanted to choose one of her looks. She’s an Alaska girl, and having moved to Pittsburgh from Alaska myself a few years ago, I was excited to stumble upon her blog. People think Alaska is lacking in the fashion department, and yeah you do see a lot of polar fleece and parkas, but there are enclaves of fashionistas; you just have to know where to look! But back to the outfit at hand – I loved the simple black and white color palette of this ensemble, and how it plays with texture and shape. Her hair is almost an accessory in itself, and it goes great with her DIY furry skirt, a la Where the Wild Things Are, and fringed moccasins. The woodsy setting completes the look. Check out her blog to read the full post on this unique skirt.

If you want a skirt that plays with texture, try the Curator Skirt or the Black Spinel Skirt and pair with a simple tee in a neutral color.

The Swedish blogger from En magisk purt til en anan värd is my current obbsession, despite the fact that her whole blog is in Swedish.  Her photos are beautiful, and  love can overcome language barriers, can’t it?  I picked this outfit as my style inspiration on this overcast, chilly Pittsburgh Friday to remind everyone that all you need to brighten even the dreariest day is a bright coat or bright accessories.  I always get compliments when I wear When Life Give You Lemon Coat on dark and rainy days.

I first discoved the blog Daily Fashion Boost about a year ago.  Sam, a Dutch student and only 18, is a pretty amazing blogger with a great sense of style.   I love how she took this blue and white summer polka dot dress in the outfit above and transitioned it into fall with dark tights, dark accessories, and millitary inspired blazer.  I ‘m now inspired to do the same with some of my summer nautical themed pieces by pairing them with items like the Winter Prep Thigh Highs and the Blue Brigade Jacket.

This outfit, from one of my favorite style blogs Idee Geniale, is a totally fabulous fall look.  I love the pop of the bright red skirt in contrast to the neutral browns and blacks in the rest of the ensemble!

(Image above: wardrobe photo from Orchid Grey)

I stumbled upon Orchid Grey this morning after clicking on a Wardrobe Remix image on Flickr of the stylish woman behind this blog in a grey outfit featuring leopard print tights. That photo inspired me to visit her blog where I found a bevvy of beautifully pieced together outfits, all very pretty but with a hint of rock ‘n roll edge to them. It was difficult to choose just one picture to feature, but after noticing that she named the above ensemble “Velvet Elvis,” I knew it to be the winner.

What do I love about this particular outfit? Where to I begin? Let me start by saying that I like how she’s taken the ordinarily very casual combination of jeans and a T-shirt and polished it up with a very svelte, black velvet blazer. Not to mention that the jeans themselves are very sleek and chic, and that black with blue happens to be my favorite color combo! Then, to brighten up the look a little, she’s wrapped a purple-dotted scarf around her neck. Finishing the outfit is a stately pair of black heels.

If I were to try to recreate a similar outfit and didn’t have an amazing black velvet blazer at my disposal, I think I’d pair blue skinnies with the Captain of Cool coat for a slick look with a refined edge. What do you think?

I can’t begin to express how impressed I am that the stylish woman behind Living La Vida Rita was able to combine so many seemingly disparate elements into one stunningly adorable look! She’s managed to create a punky outfit that’s also totally office-appropriate by piecing together a skirt and a top with wildly different prints, then polishing those with a perfectly tailored blazer. And then the real kicker? Her amazing, studded, strappy sandals (a closeup of which she provides on her blog)!

Maybe you could pull off a similar, funky-formal look with something like the Glass Ceiling Blazer. What do you think?

(Image above: wardrobe photo from the Style is Style blog)

The stylish woman behind the blog  Style is Style wore this recently to the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, and I have to say that it’s a really rockin’ ensemble! She’s taken a very chic, mostly black outfit – with a very on-trend, military-inspired jacket – and given it a double wallop of color with sky blue tights and a sunny yellow scarf. Putting yellow and black together seems like a risky move, but she totally pulls it off with aplomb. Finishing her look are her slouchy, calf-high boots, which kick the outfit up to eleven!

If you want to achieve a similar look, try pairing any number of our military-inspired jackets, like the Captain of Cool Jacket, with a flowy frock to create a balanced look that’s both edgy and feminine.

(Image above: HEL LOOKS)

As I mentioned in Wednesday’s Style Inspiration, I have a serious obsession with cardigans – and this girl’s colorful cardi takes the cake! The vibrant colors and abstract pattern of this cardi is slightly “eccentric aunt,” but the way she styled her sweater with pristine white sporty wedges, pencil thin high-waisted jeans, and an oversized black leather satchel is purely vogue. I’m also really into this girl’s sparse use of jewelry – a super mod black ring and bracelet, all on one hand, really complements her large bag. To finish off her fab ensemble, she’s sporting a runway-worthy topknot and it looks a-ma-zing. Her casually chic, comfortable style is definitely something I hope to recreate in the future!
