I love how she tones down the toughness of the leather jacket with a pair of great baby blue vintage frames, bright floral skirt and bright bag!

We’re getting a touch of Spring here in Pittsburgh, so today’s style inspiration is in honor of the transition wardrobe and the endless possibilities therein! Pops of color mixed with Winter’s neutrals define my outfit choices for the next few months. Their shoes floor me (get it?), and the girl on the left’s hat reminds me of my new favorite thing ever, The Cover Girl’s Derby.

First, let me thank everyone who commented on my previous Style Inspiration featuring Vasil. Love it or hate it, discussing fashion trends is one of our favorite pastimes – thanks for your input!

Today, this vintage maven stole my heart. Her menswear-inspired coat was the perfect touch to such a feminine look. The hat is unique, yet effortless, and I always admire vintage luggage moonlighting as “purses”.

Yesterday’s Style Inspiration set off a lengthy conversation between Vasil and I about the fabulous emergence of drop crotch pants. Little did I know, he was working on a pair of his own! Today, I bring you the jeans that sparked a thousand “wow”s, and the look that is making my heart flutter. Vasil, oh when will you make me a pair?

You say you’re not sure about the trend? That you’d never wear something so strange? Well, lets not forget how many of us felt about skinny jeans just a few years ago…

I don’t know what it is about this look that I adore as much as I do. Is it the blatant disregard for color matching? Her cherub-like face? I can’t take my eyes off of her!

Hello ModLovers! As Susan, Sari and myself enjoy the tail end of the current trade season in beautiful Las Vegas, I took the opportunity to try out some of ModCloth’s newest transition pieces. I wanted to move away from the greys of winter, so I started with The Aquarius Dress. The bright stones and colorful print keep their own in a sea of slot machines.

Next came the Harvest Moon Belt. I’ve worn it nearly every day of our buying trip, and that says a lot coming from a wardrobe of at least 30 belt options. The Style Icon Oxfords are a perfect match (not to mention adorable), and I added my favorite colored tights to finish the look and help keep out the slight chill of winter in Vegas.

Add my personal favorite, the Interior Design Necklace, and the Birds of a Feather Clip, and I was ready to hit the newest collections. Check out our Flickr account for a preview of what’s to come! Thanks for reading, and happy shopping!

Calling all vintage lovers and thrifting masters! We need your assistance (and so do cute little animals)!

The Humane Society of the United States has launched a campaign called Coats for Cubs, and we think you ModLovers across the country may be able to help.

Animal shelters across the country are in need of old fur coats to help rehabilitate orphaned animals. Swatches of fur can be used as comfort aids, surrogate parents, or even a new friend for young animals that have been taken in by shelters. If you’re anything like us, while you may not opt to wear fur, that $5 fur find at the thrift store or old hand-me-down collar is worth helping out a great cause (and it may earn you a tax deduction).

Find out more at the Humane Society’s Coats for Cubs website. We love when fashion can make a difference, and we’re confident that you do too.

paper bag waist

Welcome to our very first Fashion Dictionary post! In this series, we’re going to give insight into the more obscure cuts and styles of some our new (and fabulous) items! This week we’re going to start with the paper bag waist. We predict that this unique look is going to be hot this spring – and with good reason.

A paper bag cut generally means a garment features extra fabric at the waist – making it perfect for belting! Typically worn high at the waist, it creates a feminine silhouette that adds shape to an outfit, making it chic, but not overdone. Our Midnight in Manhattan Skirt is one of many paper bag style skirts that will be featured on ModCloth this Spring. Vasil created a cafe-ready style by pairing it with our Victorian Boho Blouse, but you could try it with a basic tee to keep the look simple, yet stylish. Do you have a style term you’d like brought to light? Let us know! Thanks for reading, and as always, happy shopping!

Clockwise from left: Buckles, Keith, and Iggy.

Here’s Part 2 of our cutest canine finds from right here at ModCloth:

Buckles is part Cairn Terrier, part Toy Poodle, and part Awesome. He’s Liz’s dog, and he enjoys adventure, frosty paws, and looking out windows. For Halloween he was Michael Yelps.

Keith Richards is Molly’s miniature Dachshund. He is rock ‘n’ roll through and through. His favorite pastimes are chewing on his bone and chasing his hot dog squeak toy. He’s excited about his first visit to ModCloth!

Iggy Pup is Casey’s Italian Greyhound/Papillon mix. He is also known as Ignacious D. (The ‘D’ stands for dog.) Sometimes Iggy is rambunctious and enjoys running and being chased. The rest of the time he’s very shy and quiet. He loves to eat, so if you have food he will probably be your best friend.

I didn’t have to look far for these cute finds- they’re ModCloth’s newest canine additions. Sometimes Winston gets bored with us people sitting at our desks all day. So, he invited a few friends to come into the office:
