Boat necks, and scoop necks, and turtlenecks, oh my! When your closet is packed with so many different necklines, you have oodles of options for styling and accessorizing, and picking the perfect necklace for each neckline can have a big impact on your overall look. Learn how to be an accessorizing ace with these tips for pairing necklaces with different necklines:
Scoop necklines give you lots of room to work with. You can go short or long, statement or subtle. For this look, we used a lengthy geometric style that had a scoop shape of its own.
A sweetheart neckline can make a great frame for a shorter statement necklace. A chunky chain or layered beads will work well with the sweetheart shape.
Turtleneck or Mock Turtleneck:
Turtlenecks call for larger, longer pieces that won’t interfere with the neckline. Choose something that will stand out against all the fabric, like an oversized locket or a long string of beads.
You can get a little creative with a button down neckline! A short, chunky choker peeking out from under the collar creates a brooch-like aesthetic. Or, a mid-length pendant worn over the collar (shown above) complements the shape and angles of the top.
For v-necks, try a smaller drop pendant that comes to a point and mimics the shape of the neckline. The effect is subtle and sophisticated, and it packs a lot of “less is more” appeal.
Square necklines create a natural frame, so try something that fills the space well, like a shorter, wider pendant or a beaded statement necklace.
Boat Neck or Crew Neck:
A long pendant adds length and depth to balance out a shorter, more shallow neckline. It also breaks up the look and adds a focal point to the overall look.
