Whether your summer is humid or dry, involves sweeping cityscape views, or glorious beach fronts, there’s no denying just how sweltering things can get come July and August. When your face requires a refresh amid the heat, we urge you to reach for a mist that soothes, cools, and nourishes. This DIY face mist utilizes two of summer’s most plentiful ingredients: hydrating watermelon and coconut water, as well as skin-nourishing, oil-zapping witch hazel.
What You Need:
- 2 tablespoons fresh watermelon juice
- 1 tablespoon 100% coconut water
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel
- 3.5-ounce container with spray nozzle
Cube a small watermelon and reserve four to six pieces. Press pieces with a fork to extract two tablespoons of juice, making sure to remove seeds and large pieces of pulp. If you already have a watermelon sliced and diced in the fridge, simply empty some of the naturally separated juices into a container.
Watermelon is rich in vitamins A, B6 and C, as well as lycopene and amino acids. It’s instantly soothing on the skin, and also helps ward of free radicals and premature aging.
Next, add one tablespoon of coconut water. This should be pure, 100% coconut water, which you can either purchase canned, or dispense straight from a coconut! Coconut water works as a natural toner and clarifies the skin. Like watermelon, it’s also soothing and hydrating.
Finally, add one tablespoon of witch hazel, which zaps excess oil while soothing and protecting parched, sun-exposed skin.
Pour your mixture into your container and date it. We recommend keeping your DIY watermelon face mist in the fridge overnight, or whenever it’s not being used, so that it stays fresh for up to two weeks long. When you’re out and about, use it liberally and often!
