The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Greetings ModLovers! I hope you’re enjoying your holiday season (and wardrobe) while we count down to the end of the year.
This week’s Style Glossary post features a term I hadn’t heard of until this week – the monk shoe. I was under the impression that monks didn’t worry themselves with fashion, but alas, this style is making a comeback!
Characterized by a closed toe and wide buckle across the tongue instead of laces, monk shoes are a stand-out among simple brogues or loafers this fall. They were first made popular in the 1940’s, and have had frequent revivals ever since (and I can guess why). Our Sweet Pota-toe Heels are an on-trend way to get this look.
Do you have a fashion term you’d like brought to light?

These are so cute! But I can’t imagine monks teetering around in heels, haha!
and not to be a smarty-pants, but there’s a typo in “tongue” fyi… I was wondering for a moment if “tounge” was another fashion term I didn’t know!
It’s kind of sad that I read “monk shoe” and thought of the Tony Shaloub character.
Oh, I absolutely adore that show!
