Sweater, Sweethearts, Shoes, and Songs

Written by ModCloth Writing Intern Amy Cockcroft:

  • While on search for items that are perfect for fall with a twist, I found these sweaters designed and hand-knitted by Hannah Taylor, a fashion graduate based in London. Check out her blog, hanzipan.blogspot.com. How cool, quirky, and totally unique are her designs!?
  • When you were a kid, did you have a collection that you were ridiculously proud of, and endless knowledge of it that you could recite at the drop of a hat? For me, it was Beanie Babies. For many others, it was Barbies. Check out the chosen love of this little boy; you’ll be amazed by his cuteness. What was your obsession?
  • Speaking of collections, oh how we all love shoes! Check out the Jeffrey Campbell blog from when our buying team went for a visit! Don’t you just want them all?
  • And finally, proof that we can all make that dream of becoming a pop star come true, check out The Axis of Awesome–evidence that all you need to make it in the industry are four simple chords. Who knew?!

Ah, the working week is over, which in turn means my time interning with the fashion writing team here at ModCloth is over too.  It’s been a great summer, and I hope someday I’ll be back! Wish me luck for my journey back to England and my final year at university, and thanks for having me!

I once heard of a kid who had over 200 vacuums stuffed into his tiny three bedroom house, including one of the very first vacuums ever made (it still worked!). The kid was only 14 and vacuum companies were calling him to test out new models and whatnot. Clearly, the cute kid on the Ellen show’s on his way to being the next great vacuum collector!

The collars of the two to the right are INSANE! I bet they’re very warm though.

Those sweaters (especially the one on the left) are absolutely terrifying, second only to the nightmarish clown characters modeling them. That catwalk looks like the most diabolical bank robbery ever conceived. But I am SUPER impressed with her knitting skills! I never got beyond a long, straight (at least it was straight!), single-color scarf, ha ha. Props. Can scarcely believe she makes any money off her creations, but props. ^_^

As far as collections go… I used to collect spoons from gift shops in all the places my family traveled. I got about a dozen by the time I quit when I was, I don’t know, 10?
