And the Winners Are…

Thank you to all those who participated in the Winston Awards! We judged all of the product reviews left at between August 10-14th, and here are the winners.

For Best Love Story – The Winston goes to Marjorie, for Bedroom Eyes Dress!

“Dear Bedroom Eyes Dress, I can’t tell you how nice it has been to get to know you these past couple of weeks. Your beauty and grace light up a room and accentuate all the best parts of me. Thank you for not being too clingy and letting me breathe. We went through a lot last month at that outdoor wedding: grass, sweat, jealous looks from other guests, cake spills, and dancing the polka. That’s enough to ruin any relationship, but not ours. When others were pulling nervously at their sweaty garments, we were cooly collecting compliments wherever we went. When I’m with you it’s la vie en rose. Ours is a romance that is made to last. All my best, Your Admirer”

For Best Mother/Daughter Review – The Winston goes to Sophia and Mary, for  Honest to Blog Hi-Tops!

“…Here’s our mother and daughter review: Daughter: “SU-per stylish! When I walk into a room all eyes turn to my feet. I try not to smile and blush too much as I walk to wherever I need to go. My friends re-compliment me even though I wore them before. My mom has the same pair, and it’s a fun thing to have matching with her!” Mom: “These shoes are 2-in-one and THAT is great. They are an easy addition to many outfits, and draw compliments from strangers! The best part about these shoes is they give me a “Gilmore girl” kind of connection to my daughter!”

Keep reading to find out who got the Winston for “‘Best Review” and more! For Best Fairy Tale Reference – The Winston goes to Natalie, for The Better to Brew You With Teacup!

“Once upon a time, Little Red Riding Hood received a lovely gift from her dear old Grandmother. “A cup of tea on a rainy day!” Granny explained. “What could be better than sipping some tea and reading a nice book? Nothing, that’s what! Now, have some nice cookies and be on your way!” Little Red Riding Hood thanked her and set off back to her house for a lovely cup of freshly brewed chamomile tea in the safety of her home. On the way, a mean old Wolf named “Roommate” tried to steal her brand new teacup when Little Red wasn’t looking! “It was just sitting there!” Roommate Wolf cried. “It looked so adora- I mean, it looked so menacing and cunning! I want it!” Little Red reminded Roommate Wolf that everyone should respect one another’s personal property and get their own mug. “But! But!” Roommate Wolf declared. “I can’t possibly work correctly! What a small handle it has!” “All the better to hold it with.” Little Red replied. Roommate Wolf scowled. “What a tiny infuser!” “All the better to brew with.” Little Red said calmly. “No, no!” Roommate Wolf declared. “It’s too small for a proper cup of tea and I would know! What a tiny capacity it has.” “Nonsense.” Little Red corrected her. “It’s all the better to drink it in!” Roommate Wolf finally got the message (after many passive aggressive notes left by Little Red) and bought her own mug. In the meantime, Little Red Riding Hood recommends that anyone else with the mug makes sure that the loose-leaf tea is free of tea dust or long stems so that the infuser can keep all the particles out of the tea. Besides that, Little Red Riding Hood lived happily ever after with her spiffy mug.”

For Best Proverb – The Winston goes to Stephanie, for Festival Dress!

“This dress has become my favorite summer sundress very easily. Its color is perfectly complimentary to all warm outside activities the season has to offer, and the perfect comfy material to keep you looking cool in the hot sun. I always say that dresses pay for themselves in the compliments and confidence you receive when you’re wearing them–and with the amount of friends and strangers who have told me that they love this dress, I believe that I could have figuratively paid for it ten times over! The festival dress is fun, fabulous, and of course, very festive for the season when you need to look your hottest!”

Cue the spotlight, and drum roll, please…

For Best Review  – The Winston goes to Emily, for Petite Peacock Bangle!

“Modcloth’s “Petite Peacock Bracelet” conveys anything but a petite, dainty proclamation. Singing of illustrious beauty and featherly fun, the bangle, in its smooth lines and its muted, romantic jewel tones, flawlessly complements the wardrobe of a modern (yet delightfully antiqued) and assertive woman. Sure, this season’s abundance of peacock garb is anyone’s ticket to an updated, trendy look. But with the “petite peacock bracelet,” Modcloth judiciously selected a piece sure to transcend the fleeting ambitions of seasonal flings. In the “petite peacock bracelet,” one glimpses the allure of classic refinement, of an exciting nightlife, and of a subtle homage to vintage eclecticism. This versatile nature transforms it from just a whimsical accessory into a lasting Swiss army knife of fashion.”

Congratulations to all of our winners who will be receiving ModCloth gift certificates! And, thanks again to all of you who left reviews – we really appreciate it!
