The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Now, you can dress for the bag you have and for the bag you want! Hosted on our Style Gallery, this Be the Stylistâ„¢ Contest asks you to create a chic outfit around your fave carryall. Your savvy ensemble could earn you one of our flashy faves — the Be the Stylistâ„¢ Bag, named in honor of this contest! Since this accessory wasn’t meant to be empty, the winner will also nab a $100 GC.
Entering is a piece of cake! Select your best statement bag, incorporate it into one of your signature looks, snap a head-to-toe pic of your fabulousness, then add it to the Style Gallery. When uploading your shot, you must tag the Be the Stylistâ„¢ Bag as ‘similar’ so we know it’s a submission to our contest. You can always search and select the ModCloth items ‘pictured’ in or ‘similar’ to those in your outfit pic, but tagging our Be the Stylistâ„¢ Bag turns your photo into a contest entry.
We’ll consider Style Gallery entries until 11 a.m. PT on 10/11. Then, ModStylist Jess will select a winner to receive our Be the Stylistâ„¢ Bag plus a $100 GC. Like a posh purse, your fashion fate is in your hands!
Sure, you have a haute handle on this opportunity, but the following deets will help you out:
Do you have this styling challenge in the bag? Enter to find out…
UPDATE (10/16) — The winner has been chosen and contacted via email. Congrats to Christine Vu!
Does the bag have to be from Modcloth, or can we use our own? 🙂
You can use whatever bag you’d like! It does not have to be from ModCloth. 🙂
I’m with Kate on that one! Pease let me know!!
Also, can the different entries be for different bags?
You can certainly use various bags for different entries, and the bags do not necessarily have to be from ModCloth. Best of luck! 🙂
How big is 462 pixels? I only have my phone to take photos with….
Your phone’s standard photo size should work just fine for Style Gallery, Nicole. 🙂
Does the bag have to be similar style to Be the Stylist Bag or can we use different style bag?
You can use any bag, Olga… doesn’t have to be similar! Good luck. 🙂
Do you have to be a certain age to enter the contest? 🙂
There is no age requirement, Tess. Best of luck!
If I forgot to tag the Be the Stylist Bag in my upload, is there a way to edit my posting? I got so into picking out similar pieces that i totally forgot. 🙁
Hi Mary! Please reach out to our amazing Community team here: Support@modclothcommunity.zendesk.com. They can correct your photo to include the bag. 🙂
Can you enter from outside the US? (Aussie)
Yep! This contest is not limited to the US. 🙂
How do we tag our photos? I don’t see anywhere to add tags in the upload process… :/
Click into upload from the Modcloth Blog on the contest page and you will see where to add items. Also the contest rules state one must upload from a computer. You cannot enter, according to the rules, with a phone or other device.
When they ask if anything in your outfit is from modcloth, look up the “Be the Stylist” bag and then say your bag is “similar.” Your bag doesn’t have to be similar, but it’s how they’ll know you entered into the contest.
Help! I can’t figure out how to tag the photos and I live in CST :/
Does the photo have to be entered in by 11 AM PT or approved by the Mod Community people before 11 AM PT?
Karstin, you posted an amazing dress in green and white stripe with pink trim for this contest. The skirt was like the design of an elbow length puffed sleeve with a cuff where the hem would be; or like a Japanese lantern. Did you or someone else design it for you. Definitely “Hot Couture”! Love, Love, Love!!!
Thanks Cyra! I designed the dress 🙂 The skirt is my favorite part too because it creates a unique sillhouette. I am currently in the process of creating a portfolio type blog, but you can see some more of my work on my blog, http://thestripedflamingo.blogspot.com.
Ooooh! That is so exciting!!! I am a seamstress and would love a pattern!!! My sewing talents are limited to patterns. I should have, could have taken a class in pattern design in college but was overwhelmed with the thought. I consider yours a rare talent indeed!!!!!!!!!
I just took a look at your blog! Wow! So maybe I’ll be a student in one of your design classes someday. I noticed you have a model in the same dress and it has full cap/short sleeves. I would love one just like it; same fabric and all. Best wishes!!! You are doing a wondrous service of love for ladies of all ages everywhere!!!
Silly me. I see you are probably wearing the exact same dress. It was just in my mind’s eye that it was a sleeveless version. 😉
Last but not least: Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for your response! I loved all of your feedback. I would love to talk to you more about the dress and other things- send me an email! You can find contact info on my blog. 🙂 Good luck in the competition! Hopefully we’ll find out who won soon!!!
Ugh, so it’s probably too late, but I only realized how to tag “similar” for the very last photo, which means none of the others were officially entered. Any way I can fix that?
Cool! I will try to enter!
So who won?
“The suspense is terrible! I hope it will last!” —Wonka
I don’t think the bag had to be the last one to be tagged similar- I tagged mine first. I hope I did it correctly- I don’t normally spend the time photographing my outfits!
I tagged it first in each of mine and I have not found in the Official Rules anything specifying order of the tags.
The anticipation is killing me! I just want to know if anyone’s been notified that they won so I can go back to living my life, versus refreshing this page (and my email) every.single.half.hour. haha 🙂
Who is Christine Vu? I can’t find her pic on the Style Gallery… I am disappointed with how MC team is often late announcing the winners of contests. We have to follow your deadlines when it comes to sharing our pictures for the contest. MC team however posted an update 2 days late without any picture of a winner… Oh well, congratulation to Christine Vu!
I think the winner is the Christine with the large white kitty face with blue eyes handbag. The background of the photo is split with half aqua and the other half lime green. It is her first and only entry on the Style Gallery. If you go to the week’s photos you’ll find it maybe fifteen lines or so from the top.
Modcloth has some wonderful contests and ideas they have brought successfully to fruition, even though it takes time to get to the gelling point in some areas. That’s expected. Details should have been clearly explained about clicking in to be entered. I found even Modcloth employees on the help line did not realize you could not accomplish this from the everyday red button at the bottom of the Style Gallery page.
I agree this was not handled in a professional manner; your word, Modstylist Jess, should be something we can count on, with exceptions of dire uncontrollable circumstances. At the least, an acknowledgement, maybe even an apology is in order. I have tried clicking Christine Vu’s name with the browser Google Chrome and also with Foxfire with “zip” results. Congratulations, Christine!!! I hope to see your winning entry sometime in the not too distant future.
See my post in reply to Olga. I think the lost Kitty and her owner has been found. Christine is wearing a black and white Kitty print to go with her handbag of a cat face. A lot of trendy cat craze in some circles.
