Today’s Outfit of the Week is extra special! From Jan. 11 – 28, we held our Model Your ModCloth Contest on our Flickr Style Exchange account. Outfit photos submitted to this contest had to contain at least one ModCloth item, qualifying them to be chosen as our featured ModLife outfit of the week! And the winner is (drumroll)… Tran from Austin, Texas!

Of the submissions posted, hers exhibited a unique pairing of multiple ModCloth items, from the statement Calypso Skirt to the perfectly coordinating Jolly Post Clutch in a style that is all her own – and photographed beautifully! Not only is her above outfit extraordinary, so is her blog, which highlights the essence of traveling, exploring cultures and languages, anything vintage, classic films, food, fashion, among other interests. If you’re looking for a fashionably good follow, I highly recommend checking out tranish.blogspot.com! After personally reaching out to her to find out more about how she managed to come up with this stunning stylish look, this was her response:
“I knew I wanted to style my outfit around the Calypso Skirt – it has been my favorite ModCloth item for awhile now and I was looking forward to pairing it with the perfect top and accessories. The white waves of ruffles and the corseted black top of the skirt were too tempting not to pair it with an off-shouldered bold, red striped top, which gives it such a feminine, playful look. I decided to play it a bit further by adding my favorite ModCloth necklace, The Haute Handlebar.
My default earrings, ever since I got them, have been the vintage-inspired Edie Earrings in Socialite (although they’re hidden behind my hair!) From the earrings up, it only made sense to add an extra vintage touch with the delicate midnight blue velvet 1940’s hat that I picked up recently. I absolutely love hats because they really can tie any outfit together, and in such a brilliantly effortless manner!
By this time, my outfit was coming together in quite a vintage-esque Parisienne fashion. To top it off, it had been raining all day, so I had my wonderful creamy avian umbrella that my mom gave to me as a gift to keep my skirt and outfit dry! I had my Jolly Post Clutch in one hand, to give my look that golden pop! The letter design on the clutch also reminds me of letters sent “par avion”, perfectly blending with my impromptu French theme.
Rounding out my outfit were my ankle sateen socks, which I notice have been popping up all season, whether you find them layered on top of tights or on bare legs (the outfit called for a hint of leg). Finally, the brown heels grounded my whole look, and let me twirl happily with my umbrella against the amazing stone wall backdrop, which was quite reminiscent of perhaps a romantic jaunt through a path on the outskirts of Paris. Ah, c’est magnifique!”
