Enter the Just Our ‘Arche-type’ Contest!

Do you set ambitious objectives for yourself and relish the challenge of achieving them? Are you the kind of person who prefers to focus on the good aspects of all people and situations? When faced with a problem that others think has no solution, do you still seek ways to solve it? And when it comes to style, do you buck the fashion trends in favor of standing out in your own unique way?

If so, then you’re Just Our ‘Arche-type’, and we’d love to acknowledge you for it! From 10 a.m. PT on 10/24 through 10 a.m. PT 10/30, we’re holding a contest on Facebook to determine which one of our wonderful fans best exemplifies our core values. The person deemed the exemplar of ModCloth mettle will win a whopping $500 gift certificate!

So, if you think you’re the epitome of creativity, individuality, and positivity, simply post a picture of yourself in all your ModCloth spirit via our photo app, then in the caption, explain how you personify our principles, and how the winnings would help you reach your goals. Or, if you know someone spectacular that fits the bill, nominate them by posting their fab photo and telling us all about their awesome attributes. We’ll review all the entries, then put our top ten up for a public vote at 5 p.m. PT on 10/31.

It’ll be tough narrowing down the superlative submissions, so we need your help! Make sure to share your two cents with us by leaving comments during the preliminary round, and feel free to promote your fave contestant to all your friends.

But before you go posting, please read these details:

  • To participate, you and your nominee (if applicable) must be fans of ModCloth on Facebook.
  • You may nominate more than one person.
  • Captions must not exceed 250 words.
  • ModCloth will choose its top 10 based on adherence to rules, content of the caption, and your comments.
  • Public voting starts at 5 p.m. PT on 10/31 and ends at 11 a.m. PT on 11/4 5 p.m. PT on 11/7.
  • Full, official contest rules can be found here.

Good luck, and be sure to bookmark this blog post – we’ll update it, as well as our Facebook page, on 11/4 with the announcement of the lucky winner!

UPDATE (11/4) — Since we’ve been experiencing technical difficulties with the voting app (le sad!), we’ve extended voting until 5 p.m. PT on Monday, 11/7. Happy voting!

Oh my gosh… I was reading the entries and these are some awesome women! Not only are they stylish and gorgeous but they exemplify so much goodness and individuality! I love this contest, best of luck to everyone!

Even though I already love all ModCloth contests, I wish that they would be more open to people who don’t have Facebook, Twitter, etc…

  3. maria 10/25/2011 at 1:24 pm #

how do you upload your photo? Is it supposed to be uploaded to FB?

    • Ashley (ModCloth) 10/26/2011 at 5:10 pm #

Yes, you enter through the contest tab on our Facebook page.

  4. Victoria. H 10/26/2011 at 1:18 am #

    Hey 🙂
Do you have to be wearing only modcloth clothes?? Or can they just be clothes that represent you and Modcloth as a whole?? 🙂

    • Ashley (ModCloth) 10/26/2011 at 5:10 pm #

No, you’re not required to be wearing ModCloth in the photo.

I’m a little disappointing that entrants must be over 18. I’m 15 years old, and an artist. I would have loved to enter- and I was about to- until I learned I couldn’t. I could understand if there was any purchase or Identification involved in the process of prize claim, but yet a parent or guardian may provide for that if required.

    • Monica 10/27/2011 at 7:57 pm #

MacKenzie- I certainly understand why you’re upset. I’m 14, and would have loved to have entered, since I think I do have my own style. Keep in mind, though, that most contests (online at least) unfortunately do require the person to be 18. And in 4 (3 for you!) years we’ll be more than ready to take the prize! (Please don’t take that to be as cheesy as it sounds.)

      • MacKenzie R. 10/27/2011 at 8:25 pm #

Yes it’s unfortunate. I suppose it’s their lose though- we would have had the best entries 😉 Sadly contests for our age group are rather pathetically supplied with prizes and bragging rights. Hm. 3 more years isn’t that long 😀

  6. Melssa 10/27/2011 at 12:13 am #

Hey guys, if anyone wants to check out my entry, it’s under Melissa Whitman. Let me know if you guys posted too!

  7. Sarah 10/28/2011 at 2:58 pm #

I need the gift card! D; I love ModCloth so much but i’m not allowed to buy anything! my dad bought a dress for me ( after begging him for 2 months for my birthday) from here but i had to send it back :'(

  8. Sarah 10/28/2011 at 3:04 pm #

I’m pretty sure you don’t have to be 18 to enter the wishlist contest for $250

  9. Rachel C 10/29/2011 at 6:36 am #

I agree with “The Vintage Post”. I don’t have Facebook, and I wish that I could enter more Modcloth contests. 🙁

  10. Courtney 11/01/2011 at 1:30 pm #

I haven’t seen the top ten posted and I’m certain it’s past 6 pm on the 31st of October…even though I’m in Spain. Thoughts? And if anyone would like to look at my entry under “Courtney Rose” I would appreciate it! I am a starving college student who needs to look good for her work, which isn’t easy on $100 a month.

  11. Sara 11/04/2011 at 11:24 am #

What happened to this contest? I never even saw any of the nominations

  12. Sara 11/07/2011 at 10:51 am #

Still telling me that the contest is over! What’s going on modcloth?

  13. Jacqueline 11/12/2011 at 6:17 am #

are the winners going to be announced?

  14. Sara 12/01/2011 at 2:07 pm #

I am highly disappointed in the turn out of this contest. There was only one update and that update proved to be false. What bothers me more if that modcloth couldn’t take the time to just say what was wrong, or ever let us all know if the contest was even completed. I highly doubt I will ever want to enter another contest again here at Modcloth…
