The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Are you the kind of person that has a knack for always saying the right thing at the right time? Well, now your well-thought-out words can win you a $50 gift certificate in our first-ever game of The Letter, the Better on Be the Buyer!
Starting at 9 a.m. PST, you’ll see a Be the Buyer sample that’s been decorated with our cool contest logo. At that time, and at every three-hour interval through 9 p.m. PST, we’ll post a new letter of the alphabet in the sample’s comments, along with six categories. Your task is to come up with words that start with the given letter and fit the categories, then post them as a comment for that sample.
This is a game of originality, so be sure to submit words that you think no one else will enter (all submissions will be hidden to keep things fair). The person who racks up the most points in each round will be declared the winner!
How do you earn points? Well, here’s the rundown:
Also, before you begin, be sure to read these deets:
Now, put on your most stylish thinking cap, and whip up some wonderful words. Good luck!
This is like Scattergories, I love it!
Sounds like Scattergories….tons of fun!
This is a ton of fun–I’m having a blast coming up with phrases. If you keep the comments hidden, though, how will we duplicate others’ submissions? Or are you only giving points to the first person who writes a word? Just curious!
So glad to hear you are having fun with this game! Each entry will receive a score based on the point system mentioned above, so every voter will get points for creativity! We will post all of the comments after the contest ends this evening, so everyone can see the submissions. We thought it would be best to hide the comments from view so as not to confuse voters when the rounds switch and a new letter is given…and to keep the creative juices flowing! The next round starts at 3 p.m. PT, so keep playing and best of luck!
Thanks, I understood that part–I meant, if ten people used the word “delightful” for the first round, do none of them receive a point or does the first person who used it? I think I initially assumed it would be the latter, but since it’s kept hidden that didn’t make sense to me, thus the clarification.
Like in the game Boggle: if you and your opponents have the same word on your lists, none of you get points.
I’m confused – If the submissions will be hidden, how will we know if we duplicated an answer? eek. sounds exciting though!! im in 🙂
So much fun! Thanks Modcloth!
if it works the same as scattergories, any answers in common receive zero points. you get points by being creative! 🙂 and you can’t see others’ answers ahead of time so that you have to get reallllyyyyy creative to assure you don’t duplicate! huzzah!!
Aww I missed the third round! 🙁
When will the results be announced?
The results will be announced on the blog on Friday, 3/2! So, stay tuned, and good luck!
I recently won a contest…so is it fair if I enter as well?
Ooops! Nevermind! I missed it anywho! 😛
did you ever announce the winners??
