Winners of the Red Letter Days Name It and Win It Contest

Well, the Red Letter Days Name It and Win It Contest is over, and the grades are in.  A+ for effort, 4.0 for creativity, and 100% for inventive ideas. Sadly, we could only put one person per day on the Red Letter Days “honor roll,” despite the innumerably ingenious entries.

In the case that a single name was suggested by more than one participant, the first person to post was accredited as the winner.

Now, drumroll, please… the winners are…

Day One: “Applause Is Welcome Dress” by Christa

Day Two: “Brambleberry Dreams Dress” by Heather

Day Three: “We the Purple Purse” by Angelica

Day Four: “More Than a Tealing Skirt” by Rachel

Day Five: ” Keep the Car-digan Running” by Emma

Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to all who participated in this contest!

Brambleberry Dreams – good one! I drank some delicious brambleberry wine recently in the Finger Lakes and bought some brambleberry lipgloss, too! I may need a dress to match! 🙂

“We the Purple”–ha ha! I think that’s my favorite. 🙂

I’ll let you in on a secret: I’m rather glad I didn’t win that one, because the Friday of the contest week I found a somewhat similar, just-as-purple purse for $4 at my favorite thrift store! I had to get it, even though if by some chance my name had been picked for this purse, I don’t know what I’d have done with 2 of them! 😉 –Though it is a way more versatile color that you’d think, at first glance. 😀

Anyway, congrats, winners! I know you’ll enjoy your winnings!

  16. Annie 08/12/2009 at 6:37 pm #

Congrats to the winners! =D You guys will rock the pieces you won for sure XD “We the Purple” haha that’s my favorite :]

  17. Nola 08/12/2009 at 6:54 pm #

Snore. The only good one that won is “We the Purple Purse.” There were so many better names….But that’s just IMO.

  18. Beth 08/12/2009 at 11:37 pm #

I agree with Rachel, I also do not care for the names picked. I know that they are just names, and of course I am sad mine were not picked… BUT I feel that there were WAY better choices out there. The only one that I can really say I like is the “Brambleberry Dreams”. If someone would like to explain how the other names fit the items, please do! Maybe I’m just not getting it?

Don’t quite fancy the names, especially for the last 2 & the 1st. More than a tealing skirt, what does it mean? Is it a pun or a play on a word? The cardigan is super cute, the name just doesn’t describe anything about the cardigan. As for the 1st, applause is welcome, doesn’t describe how pretty the cutouts are.

Love the contest though, keep them coming, would want to try my luck again!

  20. Rebecca K. 08/13/2009 at 5:57 am #

Joy, the skirt is a play on “More Than a Feeling.” The name for the cardigan is after an Arcade Fire song, and yeah, it doesn’t describe ANYTHING about the cardigan, but, they like pop culture and music references… so… keep that in mind next time. 😛

  21. Leighann 08/13/2009 at 7:11 am #

haha congrats guys! i love the car-digan! 🙂

  22. Colleen Comer 08/13/2009 at 8:56 am #

ha! i agree my favorite is def ‘Keep the Car-digan Running’

I think all the names are great- and as for them not exactly describing the details- shrug- plenty of modcloth descriptions evoke the spirit of the dress or a moment perfect for the accessories – rather than a literal rundown of details.

  23. Eleanor 08/13/2009 at 9:35 am #

    Love the new names. Congratulations!!!

  24. Joy Lam 08/13/2009 at 10:02 am #

thanks for the information, Rebecca! =)

  25. Emma 08/13/2009 at 11:35 am #

    And puns, Rebecca!

I do love that purple purse.

  26. Katie 08/13/2009 at 11:47 am #

i especially love the names for the purse, skirt, and car-digan! xox

  27. Karah 08/13/2009 at 11:49 am #

Haha…very punny! Congratulations to the winners. (I think I’ll be singing “More Than A Feeling” all day. 😉 )

  28. Rebecca K. 08/13/2009 at 12:36 pm #

    And puns 🙂

  29. Rebecca K. 08/13/2009 at 12:36 pm #

    And pugs 🙂

  32. Yasmin 08/14/2009 at 8:23 pm #

honestly those names are terrible, especially the purple bag. seriously? wonderland in cheshire cat was better than that bull, and i didn’t even make that up, i remember seeing it in the comments. i’m disappointed you picked these names out of the other ones. you guys definetnly could of picked out better names.

  33. Claudia 08/14/2009 at 9:27 pm #

Congrats to the winners! But the names are really weird.

  34. ddeebarkz 08/15/2009 at 4:36 pm #

    arcade fire reference lol…awesome.

  35. Erin 08/15/2009 at 8:50 pm #

these names are really cute – I’m not sure I like all the items but modcloth always has cute titles

  36. face 08/16/2009 at 12:30 am #

yeah, i’ll agree that these names are awful. i remember seeing many better ones in the comments.

  37. Jordyn L. 08/17/2009 at 1:29 am #

Didn’t really enjoy the names, sounded like a bad cheesy joke card or something. Oh well, congratulations anyways!:)

  38. rachel 08/21/2009 at 8:28 pm #

they are absolutely disgusting names. i love modcloth, but really what were they thinking?! i wouldn’t buy these just because of the names. they sound like bad nock-nock jokes. two thumbs down 🙁 *tsk tsk*

  39. Rachael 09/11/2009 at 10:02 pm #

Not gonna lie, I saw way more clever names, not even thinking of my own, personally these are completely mediocre, but congrats to the winners and I hope Modcloth does this again.

  40. Michelle 09/25/2009 at 7:42 pm #
