After getting our hands on the new book, My Mom, Style Icon, and viewing all of your inspirational submissions to the Inherited Hauteness Contest, we got the urge to take part in a little show-and-tell featuring our very own ModMamas!
“My mom had killer style in the ’60s and ’70s. She rocked the center parted long hair, lush brows, and had a great wardrobe full of plaid and prints! I can barely believe that she was younger than me in this photo.” – Kate A., Returns & Exceptions Team Lead, on her cute as a button mom to the left.
On the right, Operations’ Blake shares this photo of his mother looking fashion forward in the ’80s.
“I’m always impressed by how my mom made room in her life for style, given that she and my dad immigrated to this country in the early seventies with not much beyond their education, a great work ethic, and scrappy “common sense.” I look at these old photos and see hints of my own taste – clean lines coupled with interesting details. It’s just a shame her feet are so tiny, or I would have pilfered some beautiful shoes from her closet a long time ago!” – Stephanie, Advertising Manager, of her elegantly styled mother on the left.
“This is my favorite photo of my mom! Her wedding dress was so simple and chic, and she had a great free spirited sense of style.” – Erin C., Image Specialist, of her mom’s stunning wedding photo on the right.
Jade B., a User Research Analyst, shows off her mom looking too cool for school on the left, while Jade T., Executive Assistant to Eric Koger, says, “I love looking at old pictures of my mom! I find her style to be tomboyish, yet always cute. Growing up, her number one fashion advice to me was: only wear things that are comfortable, you will feel better and look better!”
Molly P., the Creative Director, shares a photo of her contemplative ModMama at left, while Theresa, Paid Search and SEO Specialist, offered this darling photo of her mom in a cool pair of sunnies on the right!
On the left, Meggy, Writing Team Editor, shows off her fashionable mom looking ready for spring in a lovely white frock.
“My mom is my style icon because she has fun with fashion: she knows that the best part of getting dressed is choosing garments which make her happy! Doesn’t she look joyful in this picture my dad took?” – Lauren M., Executive Assistant to Susan Koger, says of this stunning vacation photo of her mom on the right.
