The Making of Make the Cut — Step 2

For the second step of our journey, we took a trip to the nearby city of Oakland, California so we could watch your sketches come to life at the hands of our pattern-maker, Georgene Shelton. Ever the gracious host, Georgene welcomed us into her studio and let us peek at the process that goes into selecting fabrics, constructing samples, and creating the patterns for your Make the Cut creations.

We spent weeks working with Georgene (pictured below) to perfect every little detail, from fabrics and linings to buttons and zippers. The pattern and sample-making process is one that requires plenty of patience and trial-and-error, but by the end, you’ve got a pattern that’s ready to sew!

Don’t forget to swing back tomorrow to see what happens next!
