Today, we launch a capsule collection designed exclusively for little girls who love to dazzle, and created with help from our own ModEmployees’ daughters. This festive selection of seven vintage-inspired holiday dresses in sizes 2T to 8Y is the outcome of a special collaboration between ModCloth and Who’s Little?, a children’s clothing company that shares our retro-chic sense of style, as well as our belief that empowering little girls is just as important as making them shine.

Like ModCloth, Who’s Little? uses color, pattern, and texture to bring new dimension to classic silhouettes, and captures the nostalgia of all those special moments that happen around the holiday season. This collaboration combines Who’s Little?’s joyful and imaginative design aesthetic with our own penchant for playful prints and retro silhouettes. They’re perfect for gifts, holiday photos, and seasonal get-togethers.

Our first foray into girls’ fashion is especially exciting, because we had some very creative design input from our very own ModEmployees’ daughters!

Isabella Kaness, the 11-year-old daughter of our CEO, provided creative direction on her namesake dress, Isabella’s Festival of Delights Dress:

Isabella has a natural eye for styling and likes to help her mom pull outfits together from her own ModCloth-filled wardrobe. When she reviewed all the swatches, sketches, and patterns for this dress, she loved the soft velvet and shimmery polka dots so much that she suggested mixing the patterns and fabrics on the top and bottom to make this combined design. It perfectly pairs rich red and black hues and is composed of a super-soft velvet bodice and a tulle-lined, polka-dotted taffeta skirt.

Siena Haase is the 9-year-old step-daughter of our Vice President/General Merchandise Manager. She collaborated on the design process for a few dresses in this collection, including her namesake Siena’s Fa La La Lovely Dress:

Matching prints in merry and bright holiday hues for little girls and grownups, too.

Siena loves plants, trees, and flowers and likes to wear fun prints and patterns, so she selected this vibrantly verdant floral motif and poinsettia-colored tulle underskirt. This exclusive print is also featured on a complementary dress for mom.

Siena also loves to draw, so we asked her to choose the theme of the Tons of Fun Color-In Dress, a totally unique, interactive design that you color yourself with the fabric markers included. Coloring books are so popular right now, and this dress captures the same fun and creative aspect by letting your little one be her own designer and imagine a truly personalized, original creation. No two dresses will be alike after each little girl makes it her own!

Community always comes first at ModCloth. In the past, we’ve run programs and contests like Be the Buyer and Make the Cut to bring our community’s input directly into our design process. But this is the first time we listened to a much younger audience’s one-of-a-kind creative perspective by getting our own daughters involved. As a female-founded company and a next generation retailer, we want to give new opportunities for young girls to imagine, create, and know they can make an impact.

About Who’s Little?:
Who’s Little? is a California-based children’s clothing brand that focuses on sweet and nostalgic styles that reflect those carefree moments and cherished memories of childhood. Founder and designer Sara Caterinicchia wanted to help mothers and their daughters “freeze time” before those younger years speed by, so her fun, fancy, and totally twirl-worthy dresses for girls ages 2T to 8Y are designed to epitomize the joy of being young.
