What’s The Princess Project? It’s an amazing non-profit organization that provides free prom dresses to those whom could not afford one otherwise. So, each special dress you buy today will help make dazzling dreams come true!
Won’t you see it in your haute heart to help us reach our goal of donating 500 dresses? After all, everyone deserves the chance to express their personal style and look their very best!

So each customer’s purchase will make you donate exactly how much to the project? Have you, as a company, already made donations to this particular charity, for this particular “prom season”? Or is this the first time you’re donating?
I do understand you want a charity to make children/adolescents feel happy – even though there are a whole lot of charities to pick from that literally mean life or death for the people who make use of them, but anway… – and it’s definitely amazing for someone to know their actions made underprivileged teens happy and made them feel good about themselves.
But some clear answers are crucial: How much, per dress (% or even a fixed amount), goes to the project? And have you donated to this charity before with your own already-existing capital? Because this post sounds like you’re not the ones donating the money, the customers are. If you only donate a really small amount of the customer’s money and have never, as a company, helped this project before then I can only say that’s it’s a clever business tactic, albeit a bit of a painful one to swallow for customers who realize what’s going on. I’m sure your turnover will be great today nevertheless, especially in the “fancy frocks” department.
If this (getting people to buy expensive dresses without knowing how much will actually go to charity) is the only ‘way’ for you to donate those 500 dresses to this charity project, Modcloth, then customers should know. At least some clarity considering donation percentages would be appropriate.
If I’m totally wrong and you’re, say, donating more money than you earn in terms of “fancy frocks” today, then I apologize, or if you are donating a large percentage/have donated privately in the past. But even then I think it’s only proper to let us, consumers, know what we’re getting into, with numbers and facts. As it is this reads like a “drive” meant to manipulate people’s emotions to get them to buy goods they might not even need or want by creating a sense of urgency (seeing as it’s a one-day deal), and I guess that’s probably not what you were trying to sound like at all.

This was our first time donating items to The Princess Project, although we have donated to other organizations in the past such as Clothes4Souls, Goodwill, and Dress for Success via our Charitable Giving Committee’s monthly employee volunteer programs since their goals align so well with ours.
Our decision to work with this organization was driven by our unique position to help with our huge selection of dresses (many of them appropriate for prom or other fancy occasions). Two hundred and sixty three dresses were purchased on Monday, and we actually ended up donating over 600 dresses total to the Princess Project! So, we’re calling that a win! : )
