Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Kam Franklin, and I am the lead singer for the Houston based soul band, The Suffers. I love wearing neon colors, binge watching HGTV, making other people feel welcome, and encouraging folks to chase their dreams.
3 fun facts
1. I started wearing cowboy boots on stage after my attempts to wear heels (post ankle injury) became laughably sad.
2. I love Dolly Parton, and I live by her saying, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”
3. I’m known for genre hopping. Last year, I sat in on a punk rock super jam with Bad Brains, George Clinton, and Living Colour one month after sitting in with Middle Brother (a folk-rock supergroup made up of of members from Dawes, Delta Spirit, and Deer Tick) at the Newport Folk Festival.

January 30,2015 I quit my day job to chase my music dreams with the band.
Advice to your younger self:
All these people that go out of their way to tell you that your music aspirations are dumb will be silenced the day you appear on Letterman. Also, more than half of those dreams you wrote about in your journal will end up coming true. Stay focused and keep working. You got this!
What do girls today need to know?
Boys will always be around, but your biggest opportunities to succeed will not. Work on creating the best version of yourself, and love will eventually find its way back to you.
