We are totally obsessed with Tiff! The magical mastermind based out of Austin, Texas, is all about making magic with Tiff’s Trolls! The adorable mini creatures are the stuff of fairytales, featuring cool crystals atop their heads like amethyst and calcite. To celebrate ModCloth’s favorite howl-iday, Halloween, Tiff created two exclusive trolls inspired by our spook-tacular collection and sat down with us to answer a few questions about how she works her magic.
Can you tell us about how this wonderful brand came to be?
As a curious and playful little girl, I was enchanted by the many Trolls that I collected. In my bedroom filled with crystals and dried flowers, the Trolls would come to life and we would have fantastic adventures. Now, as an adult, I wanted to bring some of that feel good magick back into the world, so I created Tiff’s Trolls. I call it my childhood meeting my adulthood.
At ModCloth, we describe our designs as unique and vintage-inspired. How would you describe Tiff’s Trolls?
Tiff’s Trolls calls forth nostalgic, light hearted energy in such a playful way. It is up-cycling and sustainability meets Old World elements of crystals and plant spirits. These new creations remind us: even that which is simple and silly can also be sacred.
The Tiff’s Trolls designs are all so unique! If you were a Troll, which one would you be?
One of my newer crystal troll creations has me very excited, it is my take on a lit melting candlestick. The wick is an iridescent golden Aura Quartz and the wax is a crystal called Candle Quartz. The crystal looks like it is melting over the edges onto the doll. It feels very enchanting and calming.
At ModCloth, we’re so excited for Halloween. How are you planning on celebrating?
Halloween is a real treat: the costumes, the cauldrons, the cobwebs, the celebration! I most certainly will be up to double double, toil & trouble.
If you weren’t doing Tiff’s Trolls, what’s another profession you could see yourself doing?
Tiff’s Trolls is my passion project that I pursue. My current passion profession is my health and wellness clinic, where I am a licensed Acupuncturist and herbalist. Helping people achieve balance in mind and body lets me know I am sending good out into the world. And we could all use a little goodness.
