Accessorize! Your Questions Answered by ModStylists

Your style advisers Chelsey, Nicole, Amy, and Jess.

We asked our ModMobile subscribers to text us their style questions last week, and the response was ‘mod’umental! With over 220 replies, we had two choices: 1) Write the world’s longest blog post, or, 2)  Answer your questions in multiple posts, grouped by similarity! Are we going to shoot for a world record? Not today. In this post, we’re going to cover select questions you sent pertaining to accessories, along with the ModStylists’ answers!

Customer Kimberly asked, “What’s the best way to wear lace tights without looking tacky? I have a pair that I cannot seem to wear with anything!”

Want this look? Check out the Bouquet Banquet Dress, Voila! Leggings, From Ear to Eternity Earrings, Sergeant Purple Coat, Marigold Marvel Bag, and the Take You There Boot.

In response to Kimberly, our ModStylists made the above Polyvore board, matched with the following advice: “Lace tights can look elegant with a cocktail dress and heels for a formal evening event. However, they don’t have to be reserved for a fancy night out! Lace tights are one of the perfect layering accessories for fall. Try wearing the detailed legwear with a fun dress and boots for a fall-friendly look!”

Did you send us a style text? Your question could be featured below!

You often style outfits with socks under high-heels or peep toes pumps and it always looks oh-so-cute! But I can’t seem to make it work. What do you recommend? Kylie
“Pairing socks with heels doesn’t have to look over the top! Test this trend by allowing colorful socks to peek from a pair of booties worn with your favorite skinny jeans. If it turns out to be a look that you love, explore wearing knee-highs with dresses and peep toes!”

Will kooky patterned tights and socks be fashionable this fall? Ariana
“When it comes to patterned tights and socks this season, the kookier, the better! Use them to add life to any old outfit, and experiment by mixing and matching different prints and patterns. Add some fun to your look by sporting your boldest tights with solid boots or heels.”

When is the best time to wear red lipstick? Jade
“Red lips are fashionable any time of year! Your lips don’t have to match your outfit perfectly; it’s more important to be aware of the best shade for your skin tone. Keep the rest of your makeup soft to avoid looking overdone, don’t forget to blot, and your lips will pop!”

When you have a brightly colored statement necklace that you want everyone to notice, what should you wear with it? Sarah
“When wearing a brightly colored, extravagant necklace like the Be Frank Necklace, you have to make sure not to overdo the rest of your outfit!  For example, go for a flirty frock in a muted palette such as mauve, taupe, or grey. Make sure to choose a neckline that will serve as a blank canvas for your artistically chic jewels, such as a collared shirt with a few buttons undone or a loosely fitted V-neck. With the right outfit, your jewelry is sure to make the right statement!”

Is there such a thing as wearing too many accessories? Stevanie
“Rule of thumb when choosing accessories: Once you’re ready, check the mirror, and remove one item! Of course, if you’re feeling more adventurous, we say the more the merrier when it comes to fab accessories! The right way to over-accessorize is to contrast gold and silver necklaces or adorn your fingers with lavish cocktail rings. Some say less is more, but every now and then, more is better!”

I wish we could ask questions from Australia! I’m dying to find a way to pull off pastel stockings without looking to over the top.
