Outfit of the Week: Bright Lights, Bright Tights

As I’m preparing my wardrobe for the Spring season transition, bright colors and stand-out patterns are a must in my night-on-the-town attire. I started with the Fondant Dress by one of our favorite indie designers, Plastic Island. It’s a modern take on the classic black dress – not to mention figure-flattering. Next came my personal favorite –  the A Study in Scarlet Scarf. Its vibrant flower pattern and stunning fringe stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on it.  I can’t ever leave well enough alone, so I layered the scarf with the Summer of Love Necklace to add a touch of glimmer to the look.

But I was far from done! Any ModCloth expert should be well acquainted with our Peacock Feather Tights (featured here in gold). Broods of envious onlookers ogle these oh-so-unique beauties, and the gold hue was a perfect companion to the gold in the scarf and our bright and beautiful One in Vermilion Clutch! I finished the outfit off with the For Your Love Booties (I can always find an excuse to wear them), and I was ready to paint the town Mod. I must admit, this is my favorite Outfit of the Week so far! Don’t forget to show off your favorite looks on our ModCloth Style Exchange, our new Flickr group. Thanks for reading, and happy shopping!

Overall, I think the outfit is adorable.. I love the bag more than life itself and those boots are so classic and hip at the same time. However, I think that the tights would be more flattering if the Peacock feathers ran along the back on the calf instead of the front. Many women do not like drawing attention to their knees and wearing the tights with the feathers in front sort of breaks up the girl’s long line. When they are on the back of the leg, it is more of a surprise element in the outfit… all eyes will be on you when you leave a room 😉

I completely understand! I own these tights myself, and when I wear them, the feathers are always in the back. For the sake of the picture I put them in the front to show detail. Thanks for the tip!
