Bright whites, pretty prints, futuristic neons, and even a bit of post-Impressionist inspiration were a few trends we picked up on at New York Fashion Week. We asked two of our A+ employees, fashion writer Anna and creative stylist Annie, to share their favorite looks from the runways.
“Fashion Week was full of eye-catching colors, but none made me swoon the way Karen Walker‘s did. The pale rose of that waist-defining top will surely find a way to influence my wardrobe, especially when paired with scholarly shoes, a navy skirt, and fresh coral lip.
“Tailored separates were all over the runways, but this Derek Lam look really stood out from the crowd. The contrast of light and dark colors, the sheen of the shoes and slacks, and the feminine color-blocking in the blouse make this look everything a high-fashion prepster could want.
“Patterns add so much character to an outfit, like the navy florals on this Jen Kao dress. The neutral color palette keeps the large prints from being overwhelming or loud, while the bold, solid trim gives this glamorous shift a preppy edge.”
“This Kelly Wearstler look is too good, and while it falls under the umbrella of Wearstler’s spring collection, I could definitely see myself wearing a version of this look with tights in the fall. From the sunnies to the scarf to the shoes, it’s safe to say this look is near perfection!
“How can you deny the awesomeness of Mara Hoffamn’s striped jumpsuit? With the addition of some crazy braids, vibrant accessories, and sky-high platforms, this bold, yet simple springtime look is near the top of my list.
“This environmentally sound, minimal look is typical of Organic by John Patrick, but what makes this basic bright white outfit so stunning is the unconventional pairings – a backpack and desert boots, two of my favorite wardrobe essentials!”
