Last Resort: Our Favorite Resort 2012 Collections!

Resort 2012 by Carven

The last of the Resort 2012 shows have wrapped up, so I decided to do a fun little roundup of my faves. Resort, much like Pre-Fall, has become a crucial season in the fashion industry, as evidence by the host of new designers added to the roster each year. What’s so great about these in-between season collections is that they typically offer more wearable pieces. Keeping that idea in mind, I picked these looks because they keep things subtle enough for everyday wear, but still offer plenty of inspiration!

Peter Jensen – According to Style.com, Jensen was inspired by a 1970’s Meryl Streep. You can definitely catch the cinematic vibe in his presentation, complete with a park bench as a prop. But what caught my eye the most were the stunning colors and easy separates.

Opening Ceremony – Indie darlings OC premiered their first resort lookbook in the form of this eclectic collection, which featured an assortment of prints and primary colors. Bonus points for those perfectly retro updos!

Mulberry –This fun and quirky collection (anthropomorphic pears, anyone?) feels fresh, young, and perfectly accessible. The styling is on-point and certainly gives me a few ideas about how to rework some of my favorite wardrobe basics.

Erdem – Once again, Erdem impresses with beautiful lace and floral prints in ladylike silhouettes. As a girl who loves vintage, this collection gets me feeling the urge to run to the vintage boutiques to see if I can score something similar!

Jill Stuart After having a bit of a love affair with their Fall 2011 collection, I was eager to see what Jill Stuart came up with next, and this small collection of  ’40s-inspired silk dresses is pretty much perfect!

Steven Alan – Known for their casual cool collections, season after season, I am impressed with the simple styling and no-fuss attitude of Steven Alan. Something about a simple sweater dress with a big straw hat just feels so right for resort.

Jenni Kayne – There’s something to be said about the sleek simplicity of these monochromatic looks by Jenny Kayne.

Acne – The layering may not be for everyone, but the messy hair, geek chic glasses, and extraordinary color combinations in this collection get an A+ in my book!

What were your favorite resort collections?

Yes, I know what you mean! I definitely only look to these collections as inspiration. Then I run to the thrift shops and vintage boutiques to see if I can recreate the looks. Those colors are dreamy!
