Fall — style’s favorite season — is coming, and with it comes fall fashion. (Yaasss!) Enter: our latest namesake label collection, which is chockfull of seriously chic 1970s-inspired autumn-ready looks.
With so many perfect pieces to pick from, we just had to get the scoop from Lizz, our Fashion Director, on the inspiration behind some of these incredible items and which styles she’s adoring for autumn. Read on to see what Lizz had to say about these revamped, refined retro looks…
The Wear-Everywhere Dress
Why is this Lizz’s favorite dress? “It has a fantastic fabric, super-cute fit, and strong print. I wore this to press meetings in NYC and got compliments from strangers all day long!”
With its drop-waist silhouette and Mondrian-esque print, this is the kind of dress that can make a fall wardrobe.
The Denim (With a Twist)
Denim is nothing if not classic and timeless. But this season, Lizz is lovin’ denim-with-a-twist. “Chevron back detailing, amazing floral rivets, and all the hardware is a soft copper. We’ve got a super-flattering longer straight skirt, a jean jacket, and a great bell.”
If you’ve been hesitant to try the bell bottom jean trend, now is the time, and this is the jean. Dark denim with a higher waist and flared leg is über flattering. (You’re welcome.)
The Sweetest Top
“Inspired by a vintage handkerchief we found while doing research, it has a cute collar you can wear under dresses and sweaters, a hit of embroidery, and sweet little flutter sleeves.”
It just doesn’t get much better than that! This top will see you through season after season with feminine flair to spare.
The Must-Have Fall Basic
The turtleneck is back and better than ever. “We have three turtlenecks: a ruffle neck, a sleeveless, and a swing turtle. Great for layering under absolutely everything or wearing alone.”
In a bevy of autumnal hues and one sleek striped knit, you can consider the turtleneck a fall fashion workhorse. Worn under a sleeveless dress, it ups the fab factor and keeps you cozy at the office. Worn alone and tucked into belted high-waisted trousers or jeans, it creates a streamlined silhouette that is effortlessly cool.
The Something-Special Shirt
“The search for the perfect cowgirl shirt is over! I own a bunch of vintage western shirts, but none of them are perfect (the fit, color, fabric, or pattern is always a little off, but I keep up the quest). But now, the quest can end. This western blouse, in a drapey fabric with a vintage ditsy rose print has special details like perfect pearlized snaps and tonal piping. Done.”
What more can be said? This vintage-inspired western top is plum perfect. We are dreaming about wearing it this fall under a retro jumper, with the printed collar peeking out from a striped sweater, and tied at the waist with a sleek jean skirt.
The Tech Love Prints
“Jenn in our LA office wrote this ‘love code’, and then we put it into a faded argyle pattern — take a magnifying dress to read the sweet sayings (or take our word for it 🙂 ). The other hand-drawn print features OG personal computers, vintage typewriters, floppy discs, and a mouse…plus some sweet hidden messages.”
Technology + romance does compute. Wearing these sweet prints, you won’t be able to help but smile. Be ready for a barrage of compliments and admirers inquiring, “Are those typewriters on your top?” Yes. Yes, they are.
The Special Event Dress
“Love this beautiful lace — feels great and looks super luxe — shirtdress with contrast collar, cuffs, and slip!”
This dress is such an unexpectedly elegant piece for any upcoming fall event. Whether you’re heading to a wedding, have a special date night planned, or are doing a reading at your book launch party, this dress is It (with a capital “I”).
The Style That Goes ‘Chevron’ & On
“These prints are awesome: they work with the pleats to look different when you move. The dress has flashes of orange, and the skirt’s print almost fades out as you walk. ”
Chevron is one of those patterns that will never go out of style — ever. And when it’s paired with pleats, it makes for an oh-so-‘pleats-ing’ look! (Sorry, couldn’t resist the pun.)
