Bounding and beaming through our lovely layering stylebook, model Deja exudes the pizzazz of a seasoned professional. But it was only a few months ago that this gal’s modeling career began. Deja, a Fit Specialist in our Quality Control department, was discovered by members of the creative team during a recent trip to our Pittsburgh offices. We’re so excited to feature her beautiful smile on our homepage – and happier still to introduce her to you in this month’s model Q&A!
What makes fashion so much fun?
What makes fashion fun for me is that there are NO LIMITS. If you think it, it can be made. If its wacky, wear it. You do not necessarily have to be wearing what is trending at the time. And styles are always coming back around. I love seeing fashion evolve.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? What’s your dream job now?
When I was younger, I became obsessed with watching “A Baby Story” and “Labor and Delivery” and wanted to become a pediatrician. I still love children, but the long hours scared me. My dream job is to be an entertainment broadcaster so that I get to dress up in pretty clothes and shoes and get my makeup done every day – that is what I am in graduate school for right now.
When are you the happiest?
I am happiest when I’m around friends and family. I know it sounds so unoriginal, but there is nothing like the genuine laughter and happiness that you get when you are around people that you love, and who love you unconditionally.
Describe your personal style. What’s your go-to outfit?
My go-to outfit would be a pair of jeans that are worn in and fit just perfectly, a simple white tee – not too loose and not too tight – and a pair of eye-catching, colorful shoes.
What’s one thing you want to try, explore, or learn in 2014?
In 2014, I want to live and explore outside of my comfort zone. I want to go on road trips without worrying about the mileage I put on my car, I want to stay up all night with friends and not care about being tired the next day. I want to approach people and make new friends.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever given or received?
“Do not block your opportunities.” As humans we give ourselves – and sometimes others – road blocks in life and do not even realize it. Make goals and achieve them.
