As much as we love layering up in quirky sweaters and cozy socks, it’s right around the time that winter settles in (aka: now) that we start scheming up a spring vacay. And, since we know planning and packing for the next season can be tricky, we worked with ModStylist Molly to piece together some outfits ‘n’ gather a few pointers so you’re all set for your own great escape!
First, find a piece that’s simple enough to pair with all sorts of looks, but special enough to see that you stand out. Molly chose the Santa Monica Moxie Sleeveless Top in Positive for its color, comfort, shape and versatility. In her own words:
“With its classic shape and light cotton fabric, this top makes for the perfect piece to transition through a few different outfits while on vacation.”
Then, arrange a couple of awesome ensembles around your primary piece!
Outfit 1: Day Tripper

Whether worn on the afternoon of your arrival or your first full day on the town, this simple look—featuring skinnies and sandals—sets you up with casual comfort as you browse museums, ice cream shop hop, or cruise to sightseeing spots. Your tank top’s open shoulders will welcome the springtime sun on your arms, but an extra layer never hurts to have on hand when a chilly gust comes out to play.
Oh, and we all know that even the most minimalist of sandals can really add on the pounds when it comes to toting our suitcases. To that, Molly says:
“To keep your load light, sport one pair of shoes that you plan to flaunt at your destination!”
Outfit 2: Evening Explorer
Pictured: Charter School Cardigan in Red, Paper Source Bright Eyed, As Usual Sunglasses Case, Starstruck Sunglasses, Santa Monica Moxie Sleeveless Top in Positive, Just the Essentials Crossbody Bag, Ikebana for All A-Line Midi Skirt in Pink Petals, and Austin Explorer T-Strap Flat
Time for dinner and drinks means swapping your skinnies for a floral skirt to transition your top into a date night ensemble. Is it too soon in the season to set up shop on the balcony? Not with your favorite cardi closeby! As Molly puts it:
“Slipping into a cardigan will add another layer, literally, to either enhance a basic look or offer a solid to simplify a print-mixed outfit. And, of course, it’s crucial to have along for chilly evenings!”
Fashion and function? Now, that’s a travel mantra worth remembering.
You’re probably feeling prepared at this point, but Molly has one last pointer for the road:
“Don’t forget: pack two pairs of sunnies! A few extra small accessories won’t weigh down your bag, so lean on those simple additions to liven up your look.”
