Mother-Daughter Styling Done Right by Our ModStylists

If you’ve ever borrowed clothing from your mother or daughter, this post is for you.

And regardless of whether you’re the former or the latter, we know there’s that one piece of clothing that jumps from closet to closet, being shared (if you’re like us, sometimes it happens without permission).

In honor of Mother’s Day and the original style icon in your life (that would be your mother), our ModStylists show us just how versatile clothing can be. Using two of our ModEmployees as models and two special guests — their moms! — the ModStylists give us the scoop on how to wear one dress, two ways. Check out the looks, below:

Taryn & Ann: “My mom has always been my style icon! When I was little, I remember thinking everything she wore was so cool, and I couldn’t wait till I could fit in her clothes. My mom felt so great in the whole look created by the ModStylists. She even bought everything to take with her on her upcoming trip to Costa Rica. There is no better feeling than being in a beautiful flowing maxi dress for the summer with a sun hat to add that bit of glamor every woman needs!” — Taryn

A printed maxi dress is the ideal piece for summer, whether you’re headed to the farmer’s market or out to brunch. While Ann’s look would be perfect for a shopping date (or her upcoming Costa Rica trip), Taryn’s outfit is lent a bohemian vibe with the addition of a relaxed jacket and casual booties.

On Taryn: Impromptu Plan Dress, Cinch-cerely Yours Jacket, At the Cutting Edge Bootie, Right Chevron Time Necklace,

On Ann: Impromptu Plan Dress, Day to Daylight Hat, Punch Bowl Planner Wedge, Bygone Beaches Bag.

Emily & Nancy: “My mum is very classic in her style. She likes structured blazers and clean lines. With that being said — she never shies away from bold colors or patterns. She embraces modern trends, but does so in a way that works with her age and her body. — Emily

Emily and Nancy are ready for a night out on the town. Emily looks cool as can be with booties and a moto-inspired vest, while Nancy’s look is more polished, perfect for a gallery opening.

On Emily: Make it Poppy Dress, Route One That I Love Vest, Cubicle to Casual Necklace, Park Slope Promenading Boots.

On Nancy: Make it Poppy Dress, Orla Kiely The Story Thus Safari Coat, Fresh Blueberry Fields Wedge, Here at the Cobalt Cabana Necklace.
