Tone Down for What? Rock Your NYE Looks All Year Round

Another New Years Eve has come and gone, and it’s time to put those sparkling statement pieces back in the closet. Right? Wrong-o! Why shut the door on looks that make you feel like a tall glass of champagne? Our Senior Fashion Press Specialist Aire knows a thing or two about sparkles (her personal blog is literally called Sparkle Every Day), so she was eager to share her tips for making head-turning twinkles and get-noticed glitter work for you every day of the year.

Tip 1: Mix Things Up

Sure, sparkles are a party-season staple, but worn in the right way, they can also accompany you on casual days and even to the office. The trick is to style your festive looks with more understated layers. Throw a sweatshirt over your twinkly dress. Sport some skinny jeans and suede flats with that bedazzled blouse. See how adding subtle pieces can turn the volume up or down on the va-va-voom.

Tip 2: Let the Sequins Do the Talking

Think of sparkly styles like you would jewelry. Fashionable folks know that wearing gobs and gobs of statement jewelry can overwhelm an outfit. So when you center your look around a glam piece, keep the other bling to a minimum.

Tip 3: Color-blocking? Try Sparkle-blocking

Another way to approach styling sparkles is as if you were color-blocking an outfit. Add pops of sparkles in the same way you’d add pops of color to a look!
