Coachella Festival Fashion Recap by Guest Instagrammer, Très Awesome

Back for another round of Guest Instagramming, Emma of Chicago street style blog Très Awesome tossed aside her Midwest threads and headed to SoCal to snap some shots of festival fashion for us at the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. In case you missed ’em on ModCloth’s Instagram, here’s a little round-up of some of her favorite photos!

“Oh, you beautiful California girls — so chic with your tousled beach hair and bright smiles! I spotted a ton of effortlessly layered ensembles, daisy-chain crowns, and super interesting textures. It was definitely boho-chic at its finest.”

“Now that I’m back in Chicago reviewing photos, I’m noticing that one of the nicest things about the people I met and photographed, beyond their incredible looks, was how happy they all were. Almost everyone was smiling, which is a rare sight in street style photography. It must be those positive California vibes,” says Emma.

I’d be really interested to hear ModCloth’s take on the cultural appropriation of things like tee-pees, head dresses, and certain prints. I’d love to see some social justice in the fashion world!

      Hey, Colleen!

Thanks so much for this question and for bringing the issue to light! ModCloth’s mission is to empower all of our customers to question industry standards, and we respect the rights of representation of Native American heritage. It’s never our intention to exert advantage or make frivolous any cultural backgrounds through the photography we feature, or products we carry, and we do believe the best way to stay sensitive to these types of topics is to keep an open dialogue with MC blog readers like you. We respect your opinions and want to hear them! This type of forward thought is exactly what will help prompt such justice in the industry, so keep it up!
