The High Waist to Style

There is a fork in the road, and you can choose to go either way with your skirt length, mini, maxi, or somewhere in between. We spotted Tiniyah in New York, and totally dug her past-the-knee skirt length! The hue of her watermelon striped shirt compliments her glasses, and carries through down to her maroon tights. And, don’t you find the contrast of her icy blue stonewashed skirt a refreshing color choice?

Different looks call for different styles, but when it comes to skirt length, which route do you prefer, the long or the short?

I don’t really like the long length, I prefer just above the knee.

That skirt looks amazing on her; in fact I love the entire composition.

For myself, I like either above the knee (but not mini); longest is mid-calf.

Honestly, at first glance I thought it was a circa 1989 photo. But after seeing the boots it added 22 years. That is a hard look to pull off, however, she does it. (I personally would not wear acid wash.) For me, 1989 was one year too many wearing it!!

I’am also 5’3″, so when I go longer I usually go right below the knee. Being petite means I can go pretty short without being scandalous, so I usually go that route. I like this look on her, though!

I’m 5’3″ as well, but I sometimes like the longer lengths. I go for a mid-calf pencil skirt with yummy pumps to give me a few inches. I usually don’t wear long skirts otherwise, though. I’m more of a “comfortably short” skirt kinda person.

I’m 5’9 and i rock short dresses and skirts. i’m 17 and as my mom tells me I’m only young and thin once, so enjoy it!

the longest i’ll go is knee length. anything else looks a bit to boho on me

I want this skirt! She killed it. it’s amazing! not everyone can pull such a skirt off, so it makes the look even better.

This look inspires me for autumn outfits. I think that summer is the time for short skirts or long hippie skirts (I prefer the short ones, I must say); maybe because here in Spain is too hot for wearing jean skirts right now!

I’m 5ft 5in and I either go above the knee or floor length. Anything inbetween makes me look like I have shot legs even though they are proportionally not 🙁

She looks great! I love the top with the color of her glasses. She pulls it off so good!

I wish I could wear long skirt or dresses, but I feel like they would only make look so much shorter. Sucks for me, but I love to see those looks on other girls.

While the style of the outfit is rad, I cannot fully embrace the look because it’s hard to get past my general feeling of uncomfortableness; you see, speaking in practical terms, I actually think the skirt looks really stiff- as if you’d have to waddle to walk in it. But maybe I’m just projecting my own experiences into the image because I have a knee-length high-waisted denim pencil skirt and hardly ever wear it because it rides up on me and does not allow me to move freely. Oh well, she looks cool, though.

Not digging the look of the long skirt myself, no offense to her as she’s rocking it XD I’m about 5’7 and tend to gravitate to skirts and dresses either just below or above the knee. Gives me freedom of movement, shows off my long legs, and all while still being modest and age appropriate (‘m 25)

Not really a fan of this look. I like skirts to the knee or just below. If I want to show off my figure, I would rather go tighter than shorter. I might be up for longer skirts, but most I’ve seen look a little too hippy-ish.

Well I’am 4’12 so I’m pretty short so I could only rock skirts that are slightly above the knee but I have always wanted to wear one of those maxi dresses!

I am not really enjoying the outfit its just my thought.Maybe certain shirts looked good with a high waisted pair of jeans or shorts… maybe high waisted lightly ruffled/feminine skirts (pencil skirts with good length too) but the high waisted long skirt i dont care for. I cant think of a single thing the skirt would go good with to make it chic and posh.
