The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Sharpen your No. 2 pencils and prepare to take notes, because it’s time for Back to School Styling 101. After fielding a rising number of school shopping queries from all you ladies, we decided it was time for a little styling inspiration… featuring none other than our own interns!
See how ModStylist intern Sonal styled herself and her fellow interns, and read on for their internship stories and fall styling tips.
SIMPLY COLORFUL — Industrial engineering intern Pam (above) is a self-described minimalist when it comes to personal style, but her internship is all about complex problem solving and innovative thinking. This summer, Pam’s big project is examining and devising improvements for work processes within our Fulfillment Center.
As a mechanical engineering and public policy double major, this busy bee likes to keep her outfits simple but colorful. “You can’t go wrong with a little color!” she says. In this outfit, Pam stuck to bright, solid separates that she can wear over and over — just count the number of ways you could wear that skirt or cardi! Endless, right? — with a patterned top that ties all the colors together.

LAYER IT — As a product management intern, Rachael uses her math degree to complete market research and opportunity assessments for ModCloth. Unsurprisingly, her ability to identify patterns and possibilities carries into her styling, and her advice to fellow students is all about maximizing your resources.
“Although nothing is better than a back-to-school shopping spree, putting away those sundresses can be a real bummer,” she says. “Make your favorite summer dress a fall statement piece by pairing it with boots, tights, and a light sweater.”

PRACTICAL MATTERS — A communication design major and photography minor, Sonal joined as a ModStylist intern to help ensure you’re always getting stellar style advice, and to lend her hand to projects such as this post.
Instead of plain blue jeans, Sonal picked the Linear Monologue Jeans in Floral, and bundled her hair into a fun headband as a chic, retro-inspired alternative to the sloppy topknot or messy ponytail. “When buying pieces for back to school, I like to know that I can wear it several ways and pair it with pieces I already own,” Sonal says. “I love having one special piece to build my outfit around — be it a beautiful top or patterned jeans — and styling it with neutral pieces so it really pops!”

Thank you for featuring SMART, cute, beautiful women. These ladies aren’t just another pretty face – it’s refreshing to see. Thank you ModCloth!
everything about Sonal’s look is adorable!
Pam’s outfit is gorgeous! Using all 3 primary colors is very easy to do wrong, but she does it so right with the balance, the white background color on her blouse and the beautiful little green bag for a bit of a switch up!
