If you had twenty minutes to pick out an outfit from ModCloth, what would you choose?
Outfit of the week is something that could take days to decide, and dwell over, so instead of doting over each product on our site to pick the perfect pairing, I pretended like I was running late for work, and had twenty minutes to pick out an outfit from a vast ModCloth closet! This is a great way to challenge yourself, as I’m sure many of you have experienced the pressure to dress when running late from time to time, and on top of that time crunch, are unsure where you want to take your style for the day. Well, here it is!
Due to inclement weather in Pittsburgh (14 degrees, light snow and feels like -1 degrees), the first thing I knew I wanted to build upon was layers. Second on my list, comfort! As for the pieces I chose for my outfit, I was inspired by having recently seeing the film Annie Hall for the first time about a month ago. Diane Keaton’s eclectic menswear-inspired style of baggy trousers, layers, and a dash of whimsy lead my decision to start off with the cropped Kathryn Pant. For an extra layer of warmth, I layered them over the Betsey Johnson Web of Love Tights. Also a good choice, try the smoother textured Keaton Trousers, I bet you can’t guess who we named them after, heh heh.
The rest of my look I based around a few of my all time favorite standbys. Mixing prints, with the Amsterdam Blouse in Bluebell and the Floral Greeting Cardigan. Adding a little bit of metal with the gold Dad Knows Best Watch, and the studded New York, 1976 Heels. To prepare for the treacherous wintry weather outside, I wanted to add just a bit more texture, and achieved so by topping my look off with the knit herringbone Saving Lace Coat! Lastly, I made sure to grab the versatile Lita Clutch in Fender to stylishly hold all of my personal belongings at the end of its simple, chic gold chain strap.
Do you think I pulled off a chic look in a time crunch? Next time you’re feeling at a stalemate when getting ready in the morning, will you challenge yourself to a 20-minute time limit?
I want that coat… and those heels… and that cardigan! Actually, I’m kinda into the pants, too. Cuuute!
Love the look. I always find I get a better outfit if I’m under pressure, no time to mull over little details.
i love all the pieces separately, but together they seem kind of… schluby. i don’t know. maybe i just need to see it from the front. and all of the gray depresses me 🙁
Love it, Julie! Very Keaton-esque. Mission accomplished.
too much grey. wish you’d grabbed a red dress for under the coat and a black hat.
yeah…. I looveee all the pieces separately, but together its too much grey
I think it’s too busy.
ugh…the length of that coat with the looseness of the pants just screams frumpy frumpy frumpy!
i would never go outside in this!
