Some of our favorite finds aren’t necessarily “found” as much as they are passed down from generation. This Mother’s Day, to honor our trendsetting moms, a few ModCloth employees shared their favorite finds that were passed down to them, as a shout out to amazing moms around the world on this special day!

Hannah, Editor & Fashion Writer: “Here’s my mom wearing our fave find in Guatemala. Wasn’t she cute? She also wore this shirt on her first date with my dad!”

Maggie, Campaign Manager: “My mom has always been my number one style icon. I’m very lucky that she has generously passed down to me some amazing items, like this vintage ring.”

Aire, Traditional Media Coordinator: “My fave find comes from my grandmother. I have admired her vintage “magazine” clutch purse since I was a kid in the late 80s! I love the unique shape and concept of this purse!”

Sarah, Fashion Writer: “My grandfather got this pendant for my grandmother while he was serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Every time I wear it, I’m reminded of their love for each other – and all of us.”

Brittney, Product Stylist: “Everything I’m wearing in this photo was given to me by my grandmother. We have similar styles, so I rock all of the outrageous bling that she passes down to me. My grandma is my homegirl. She will be 90 years fabulous this August.”

Michelle, Product Stylist: “My mother’s old train case reminds me of our family trips when I was little. Not only did she carry her make-up & toiletries inside, she stocked up on ANYTHING that you would need for an emergency.”

Alexa, Customer Care Post Sales Associate: “When I first saw a picture of my Czechoslovakian Baba wearing this bohemian dress, it confirmed my belief that she was my true kindred spirit.”

Those are just a few of our favorite finds from our mothers! Do you have a favorite find that you got from your mother?

    This is just too cute!

My favorite item passed down from my mother is her vintage softball tee. She played on an intramural league in the late ’70s, and it has the family number on the back (every sports player in the family has been #11). She gave it to me a few years ago and I love it!

I get tons of my favorite stuff from my grandmother- among them an oversized clutch with a map printed on it and a charm bracelet with replica coins. The two of us have such similar styles it’s ridiculous!

When my mother was in high school, she made a ring from the handle of a spoon in an art class. It has a beautiful floral design on it, and reminds me of how artistic we both are every time I wear it.

    Great mother’s day post!!

I have this tiny tan leather Coach bag that belonged to my mother and my grandmother before it. Also, my mother just gave me several pairs of my great-grandmother’s clip-on earrings for my unpierced ears. I love this post!

I LOVE this post! So much of my favourite jewelry is hand-me-downs from when my mother was my age! She and I have pretty different styles, but we still often borrow each others’ stuff and just wear it differently.

My favorite hand me downs are this old t-shirt that my grama got at my grandpa’s high school reunion (the Golden Jubilee in 1960!), and this gold, somewhat shaggy shell my grama just gave me, it’s so festive!

My fav mom find is a wooden jewelry box that my mom got in Russia on a school trip, the same excursion in which she met my dad!

    Nice post, Julie!

This post is so sweet and it breaks my heart! My grandmother’s house burned down four years ago and everything in it was gone. Beautiful Antique piano and all of her possessions. The only thing I have left is her class ring from 1920 and a Antique Singer Sewing Machine.

There’s a blouse that I have from my Mom. It’s got this gorgeous floral print that looks like a Waverly wallpaper. I wear it all the time. I have a photo of her wearing it (open so her tummy sticks out) at the baby shower before I was born.

My fave finds from my mother are the senses of compassion, fairness, and integrity that she passed down to me.

I have a Robin Hood-esque suede jerkin that my Mom had custom made when she was in college. It always turns heads, both in the 70’s and the 00’s.

I actually do! I made my mother a replica of an afghan her mother crocheted for her wedding in the 70’s. I’d always loved the original afghan which I’d commandeered from my mother ages ago and so I decided to go back and make the same one for her, only different colours. Now she has the same blanket made for her by both her daughter and her mother, 30 years apart!
