After this morning’s video contest announcement, we’ve had nothing but movies on the mind! Fashion film shorts are currently all the rage at high fashion houses, but let’s not forget their vintage precursors!

We rounded up a few of our favorite old school fashion shorts and newsreels.


This late 1920’s film features Hollywood starlets in the season’s must-have items, from flared chapeaus to embroidered sporting coats.


Decades before Rodarte relased its 2010 sci-fi thriller, Pierre Cardin took on the Space Age with a futuristic 1969 collection.


London’s trendiest shops get some screen time in this groovy 1960s Look at Life cinema short. Look at Life was a monthly documentary series focusing on facets of British life, and played in cinemas as a replacement for newsreels, which had become increasingly irrelevant with the rise of television news.

    I think that for me, the most beautiful video inspiration is the short french film “Le ballon rouge”… it’s delightful!
