It’s no secret that we here at ModCloth are mad about everything vintage, so when we received this #MarriedInModCloth submission from Katie, we just had to share. See why we’re swooning below, then be sure to submit your own #MarriedInModCloth tales here.
Newlyweds: Katie (bride) and Dalton (groom)
Date and location of your wedding: March 15, 2014 at the Asheboro Aviation Museum in Asheboro, NC.
We hear you have a shared passion?: We both have a love for the WWII era and Dalton loves planes. It was no surprise we wanted a 1940s-themed wedding. Securing our local aviation museum as our venue cinched it. Having our ceremony in an airplane hangar made for a beautiful, unique, and simply unforgettable wedding.
Tell us about what you chose to wear for your wedding day: I love lace and the 1940s look. I’m not a big fan of satin so I really wanted a dress that screamed vintage, but that was also modest. The Gilded Grace dress I bought was not only gorgeous, but fit perfectly with our theme.
What was your first dance song?: “Dream a Little Dream of Me” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and “In The Mood” by Glenn Miller.
Most memorable part of your big day: For me it was walking down the aisle, my nerves were all over the place and I literally thought I would fall. Seeing the look on Dalton’s face was everything I hoped it would be.
Any shopping tips to pass along for those who still haven’t said “yes!” to a dress?: Go with your gut. If you’ve fallen in love with a specific style of dress, just go for it. Too many choices can cause stress. No matter what, you’ll always look beautiful that day.
Any fun wedding day stories to share?: Well let’s see, I had purchased myself a lace garter for under my dress. As I came walking down the aisle, my mom mouthed to me that it fell. I was so scared of just everyone looking at me I didn’t think of it until my mom quickly came up to me and fixed it, haha. Pretty much the only mishap of our day.
Thanks for sharing your special day with us, Katie!
