Step right up! We’re a month away from the October 8 premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth season of this bizarre TV series. The official Freak Show poster, with a tinted, vintage effect (above), and tiny teasers have us wondering exactly where crazy co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are bringing us next.
Aside from hints that viewers are about to take a tumble back in time to one of the last remaining American sideshows in 1950s Florida, there’s been very little revealed. When comparing recent seasons in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy mentioned, “It’s darker than Coven; it feels very unique.”

If past AHS installments and the new promos are any indication, then we know that season 4 is likely going to have lots of fashion eye candy. So let’s take a look at the wardrobe changes that have thus far occurred between Coven and Freak Show.

Aunt Myrtle with the melon-baller in the kitchen looks to have toned down her previously eccentric style. She appears to be a classic ’50s housewife now, prim and proper in a quintessential aqua shirt dress with canary yellow and pristine white accessories. We’re guessing she’s going to be one of the Floridian townsfolk rather than a spectacle participant, but there could be more to her than meets the eye.

From frat boy to Frankenstein to…greaser? We’re liking the ‘do and that Outsiders coolness.

The tweet says it all, “Two heads are better than one.” Check out the former chic Cordelia of Coven‘s conjoined twins in pink, sharing an extra-wide Jackie O collar and brooch bling.
Always the ringleader in Murphy’s messed-up worlds, Fiona seems to have gone from Supreme Witch to Miss Hannigan at the carnival. She’s traded in her traditional black for ’50s boudoir glam and a little bit of plum purple, too.

The Voodoo Queen takes on gypsy flair…along with another new addition to her presentation. We’re digging that yellow skirt and those chunky bangles.

Wicked Delphine has shed petticoats but gained a beard. Her bohemian fringed jacket and long tassel necklace pair well with that shimmery rose satin dress.

Oh, the Benadryl-pushing and tongueless-by-choice Spalding. How he gave us the creeps in Coven! Now he’s quite dapper in pinstripes.
Will you be getting tickets to the Freak Show? What carnival-esque costume do you hope to see?
