Back when I owned a whirlpool mess of embroidery skeins, I was 99% sure that the paramount piece one could produce with the thread was a friendship bracelet. I’ve since discovered that I was acutely mistaken. Singaporean artist Izziyana Suhaimi takes these kitschy craft supplies and gives them a fashionable makeover by stitching them into her already impressive illustrations. With their fashion inspiration, punch-in-the-gut colors, and stark good-lookingness, Suhaimi’s work has reworked my expectations of what simple craft supplies can do.
