Blogger of the Moment: Blushing Ambition

Meet Annabel! She’s the 21-year-old college student behind the blog Blushing Ambition. Her understated look blends charm with classic styling, and she likes cooking (and eating) in her spare time. When asked who she’d dine with if given the chance to chow with anyone, she chose a very interesting fellow despite the language barrier. So, read her interview, and steal her style by browsing her favorite ModCloth picks.  And let me tell you, her namesake dress might be one of the best yet!

How would you define your personal style?
Simple and casual, nothing too fussy. I try to stay away from uncomfortable clothing and wear only what I feel good in.

If you had to wear one favorite outfit for a week, what would it be?
A vintage cream silk top tucked into my favorite worn-in Acne jeans with brown vintage lace-up oxfords.

What style blogs do you follow?

My favorite blogs are Park & Cube, This is Naive, A Cup of Jo, and Luxirare. The rest are a mix of fashion, lifestyle, food, and design blogs!

When you’re not blogging, what are your other hobbies?

Eating as much delicious food as my body (and budget) will let me, watching anime or Korean dramas, and baking.

Describe what you’d do on the perfect date.
For lunch we’d walk over to Tartine to grab coffee and pastries before going to the local market for groceries (and ice cream at Bi-Rite on our way out). At night, we’d cook and eat dinner together, drink wine, and stay in watching a Top Chef or Mad Men marathon.

What actress would play you in a movie about your life?
That’s a tough one. I asked a certain friend, and she immediately said Selena Gomez. I really don’t know how to answer this question, so I’ll just go with that.

What’s your favorite film or book?
I’ve read Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina about four times.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and what would you eat?
I always say Julius Caesar, because he’s so fascinating, although I’m not sure how the language barrier would work, since I can only read and not speak Latin. Maybe I’ll just pound the vinum in silence and be satisfied with his presence.

Do you have any secret dreams for the future?
I’d love to travel around the world for a couple years and try different cuisines. Hey, I can dream, right? Oh, and I want to attend at least one World Cup tournament in my lifetime (go USA 2018!).

Don’t forget to check out the Blushing Ambition Dress!

About Turi

When Turi isn’t blogging, you can find her nose behind a book. But reading isn’t her only pastime. She loves running (cue jogging stroller), taste-testing pizza and burgers, and working on the next great American novel. Her latest homage to all things literary? Her son is named after writer Dashiell Hammett. How apropos.

Wow, this is probably one of my favorite namesake dresses yet! Absolutely perfect! (I’m a sucker for a 50’s silhouette with a fitted waist and a lovely full skirt.)

this is sort of off-topic but did she say she would wear her “favorite worn-in *acne* jeans”?
what are “acne jeans”? is acne a brand of clothing? if so, i think that’s probably the most disgusting brand name i’ve ever heard! i don’t think i could buy anything from them yuck!
