Blogger of the Moment: FrouFrouu

Meet Nadia of the blog FrouFrouu. She’s the embodiment of ’70s chic, with her long black hair, Lennon sunnies, and collection of wool felt hats. Her aesthetic is simultaneously earthy and buttoned-up–a perfect fusion of menswear inspired looks in neutral tones of brown, grey, and black. She’s Annie Hall’s cool cousin from across the pond. You’ll want to read her interview to find out what inspires her style, plus take a peek at her namesake vest, and her top ModCloth picks.

We ran into each other in NYC, but what city do you call home? Do you think your locale influences your style?
I’m currently to-ing and fro-ing between Staffordshire and London. They both inspire me in different ways – London in a literal sense and Staffordshire in a more ironic vein.

Who are your style icons? What else inspires your sense of style?

Women of the ’60s and ’70s – Jane Birkin, Pattie Boyd, Françoise Hardy; dandies, new age and old. I’m inspired by everything I see, definitely a product of my surroundings.

What blogs do you follow?
An entire slew of street style and photography blogs. I follow fewer fashion blogs but always return to the likes of,,

When you’re not blogging, what are your other hobbies?

I spend far too much time scouring eBay for goodies! I also like capturing moods and moments, whether it’s through photography, writing, painting, or um, watching Jersey Shore.

If you could live in the pages of a book or on the set of a movie, which book or movie would it be? Why?
The Czech film, Daisies, or a Jean Luc Godard film. I want to go back in time!

Who would you have dinner with if you could dine with anyone in the world?
This changes everyday – today I’m thinking Louis Theroux.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
South America.

What would the perfect romantic date be for you?
With someone who makes me laugh uncontrollably. In Italy.

Do you have any secret dreams for the future?
I do. I hope one day they’ll materialize and I can share the secret.

About Turi

When Turi isn’t blogging, you can find her nose behind a book. But reading isn’t her only pastime. She loves running (cue jogging stroller), taste-testing pizza and burgers, and working on the next great American novel. Her latest homage to all things literary? Her son is named after writer Dashiell Hammett. How apropos.
