What better time of year to get crafty than around the holidays? This week, we’re welcoming four of our favorite fashion bloggers to Story by ModCloth to re-imagine a classic ModCloth item: the Charter School Cardigan. For the third installment of our series, we’re welcoming Kate of Scathingly Brilliant who shares how to add pizazz to a pink cardi:
Kate of Scathingly Brilliant here, today I’m going to show you how to turn the Charter School Cardigan in Rose into a candy-dot-covered confection using metal brads! You can use any kind of brads for this project — my local craft store has them in dozens of colors and designs but my favorites are the multi-colored ones, they remind me of candy dots. They’re so fun and festive for this time of year, when visions of sugarplums dance through our heads.
Cardigan
Fabric ribbon the length of your cardigan’s neckline
Metal brads
Fabric glue
Step 2:
The brads can be easily removed, so this can be a temporary makeover if you’d like. However, if you want your design to be permanent, simply line up the undersides of all of the brads so that they’re facing the same direction. Run a line of fabric glue over the brads and press down the fabric ribbon. Make sure you have permanent fabric glue that can withstand being washed.

And that’s it! Now you have a super sweet candy dot cardigan! — By Kate, Scathingly Brilliant
This is a very subtle, but cute addition! The brads really compliment the cardigan rather than bring attention to the brads.
What a fun idea! Alex
Adorable and utterly clever!
