Puppy Popsicles: A Recipe That Your Dog Will Dig!

With all the holidays for people-folk — it’s only fitting that the furry kind get their day in the sun, too! And so, to celebrate our nearest and dearest of fluffy friends on National Love Your Pet Day, we’re offering up our take on a nifty recipe for dog treats from Pawsh Magazine that you can concoct for your four-legged loved one.

Peanut Butter Pup Treats

1/2 -3/4 cups plain, unsweetened yogurt
2 tbsp of Brewer’s yeast (optional, but adds nutritional value)
1-3 tbsp peanut butter
1 Apple
Ice cube tray
Cutting board
Mortar and pestle (for yeast tablets)

Begin by grinding your yeast tablets, I was able to scout these at a local pet store, but you can also find them at any vitamin shop. Brewer’s yeast is relatively inexpensive (around $7) and supports a healthy coat and skin for both dogs and cats. I added garlic-flavored tablets to our treats, and ModDog Rad happily gobbled up the finished product.

Next, slice the apple into bite-size pieces fitting for your pup’s size, and set aside. Spoon the yogurt into a bowl, and add the peanut butter and crushed yeast tablets, whisking to your desired consistency. Transfer the mixture into the ice cube tray and place your apple pieces atop each square.¬†Freeze the treats overnight, and soon you’ll have a fun, easy, and nutritious treat for your best bud! Great recipe! Just be careful that Xylitol is not an ingredient in your peanut butter!
