You may be asking yourself, “When do I really have the opportunity to wear a gilded leaf and cranberry crown?” The answer? Anywhere your heart desires, my dear.

We think this festive wreath crown befits all sorts of events. Wear it atop your head at that upcoming holiday ball, throw it on before a festive photo shoot (holiday cards, anyone?), don it at a pal’s cocktail hour, or call it the “hostess crown” and don’t take it off for the duration of that fantastic party you’ve been planning.

Whatever you choose to do with it, just know that’s it’s so simple to make and so fabulous to wear. Here’s the how to!

What You Need:

  • Three to four gold leaf wreath inserts
  • One to two berry wreath inserts
  • Scissors
  • Gold floral wire

Step 1: Cut Apart Your Wreath Inserts

Take your wreath inserts and cut them apart into varying sizes. You’re going to thoughtfully piece them together again into the wreath. Make sure you keep stems on all of the pieces. FYI: You can find these wreath inserts at your local craft store in the DIY wreath section.

Step 2: Start Piecing Together

Take two pieces and wrap them together with your floral wire. We recommend gold wire for this project.

Step 3: Continue Adding Pieces

Keep adding and wrapping one piece after another, making sure to have a nice mix of different shapes and colors as you go. Be careful to overlap each piece so the crown looks nice ‘n’ full. Each piece should face the same direction to give it a more fluid appearance.

Step 4: Tie Ends Together

Once you have enough length, tie the two ends together — but test it out on your head first to make sure it’s the right size for you!

There you have it! Pretty straight forward, no? Oh, and if you’re wondering what to wear with this gorgeously gilded crown, we have a suggesh: pretty much any of our holiday soiree-ready styles will be a perfect pairing, if we do say so ourselves.

Do let us know if you try this one out — we’d love to see pictures!

Modcloth is my fave online shop ever! And now you guys are making me swoon over this crown 😉 I think I may have all these materials handy in my little workshop/area at home 😉 Pinning. This crown would go very well with the bracelets I just made…

Do you remember where you got the inserts you used or what they were called? I’ve looked online for the gold leaves and berries but I can’t find them, or any other that look just as good.
